| The Case of The Missing Greenie & Revolution Ques. I gave Pixel his first greenie last night. He ran around the house with it for awhile (not really chewing it, just had it in his mouth), then he kept coming up to me whining and then would go to dig in the couch, bed, etc. trying to find a place to hide it. Do your babies do this? So funny he sort of "asks" me where he should hide it lol Anyway, I saw him finally seem to settle on behind the hutch (with it sticking out a little). Cracks me up because he will look and look for a GREAT place to hide something and then it's almost always practically in plain view when he's done lol Anyway, I folded some clothes and when I went to put them away I noticed the greenie was gone. Well, after all of your warnings here about not leaving them alone with one (thanks for that by the way! , I wanted to find it so I could take it away from him before bedtime so he wouldn't have it in the morning while I was getting ready for work. I looked EVERYWHERE and could never find it!!!! That little stinker must have a special hiding place now lol Of course in the process of looking I found 3 toys hidden in one of the couches Luckily, I leave him in an x-pen while I'm at work and I checked that and his bed thoroughly and it wasn't in there. I just hate it because I'm nervous now with it laying around somewhere and him getting it sometime when I'm not paying attention!!! My other dog never hid anything, so while it's frustrating sometimes, I still find it completely adorable!! Now for the Revolution question. I put this on him every month and never see fleas, BUT I'm concerned about something. He likes to rub and rub on the couch immediately after I put it on him. I try to keep him from doing it, but it's nearly impossible. I just worry about heartworms and want to make sure he's getting the proper dose. Do y'all think it's okay? I am hoping it still gets into his system even though he tries to rub it off. Thanks for your input about this!!! I just wonder if I need to switch him to an oral kind instead of topical. |

| My Harley used to try to hide his treats. He would just go from room to room, couch to chair. When he finally settled on a place, he would dig and nudge and finally "bury" it then jump down and walk away, secure in the knowledge his treat was safe. Then Isabel would immediately jump up and take it and eat it! He never learned. |

| It's so funny how they worry over where to hide things. Yet don't we worry over the silliest things sometimes too. I guess we aren't really so very different, huh. Thanks for the story and chuckle!! Hope you can find the greenie. Who know what else you may find in the great hiding spot.

| sherile47 - Hahaha that's too funny!! Pixel is lucky he's an "only child," or that would surely happen to him! Though THIS time he's got a prime spot since I cannot find it ANYWHERE! LOL TeresaM - Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Whenever I DO find it I wonder what else will be in there!! I've found the strangest things buried in the side of Pixel's bed (twist ties, string, buttons, etc) LOL Just when I think the house is completely puppy proofed.... So anyone have any advice on the Revolution question? |

| That I can't comment on - I don't use Revolution or the oral heartworm. My vet told me it was not necessary since they are indoor dogs. I use Vectra for fleas, but it goes on the nape of their neck and they don't try to rub it off. |

| I had the same problem losing a greenie with Lilly. Wanna know where I found it? Stuck to the roof of her mouth. Yep, it had gotten all soggy and clumped up in a big glob and was practically glued to the roof of her mouth wedged between her teeth. I looked and looked for it for probably 20 mins, then finally I noticed Lilly pawing at her mouth and looking really odd. I picked her up to look at her just on instinct and could instantly tell something was very wrong. I pried her jaws open and had to dig it out with the flat end of a spoon. It was awful. Be very careful with the greenies. |

| Eva tries to dig and bury too! It is sooo cute, I just sit and watch her. I think it is amazing how they know how to do this without ever being shown. I love a dogs instinctive nature. I use revolution but Eva has never even noticed I put it on. I have done it before when she is sleeping and she didn't even wake up. You could try putting it on just before doing something fun, like a game of fetch or a run around out in the yard or if you walk on a leash. It spreads on the skin so probably rubbing on the couch only spreads it more, I just wouldn't want that stuff on my couch. It is somewhat like a pesticide so probably best of it doesn't get on other surfaces that he may lick or you may touch and then rub your eyes or something. You are parting the hair completely and putting it directly on the skin right? Revolution spreads very fast, you can seeing it literally moving. I use to use advantage, and it spread a lot slower. Good luck hope that helps.

| Do you put the Revolution between his shoulder blades? If so, don't let him lie on his back while it is still wet. It should be dry in no time. Prince will rub his face after I put Revolution on him...for about 10 minutes, but that's it. Revolution is the only heartworm preventative that doesn't make him sick!

| My groomer gave me a bottle of "Greenie Bits" today for my babies. Anyone use those? I stopped giving them the original Greenies long ago. These are tiny bits so I'm thinking they'll be ok....any comments??

| Reesie will jump from couch to chair to floor and back with a cookie in her mouth, all the time making little helium sounding urrrurrurrOOOF noises, then lay down on it or hide it in our bed. Once I found three cookies under the pillows. Sometimes she'll just gaurd it for a while, then eat it if she thinks Cindy is looking for it. What's a greenie? |

| I've given Sophie two of the small greenies and she buried them both in a little wooded area we have in the backyard. She does that with anything she doesn't like. Jackie & my Sophie |

| I found two greenies hidden under a rug we seldom move the other day... Stella doesn't even notice when I put Revolution on her. I usually do it when she's napping or just waking up so she isn't moving around a lot, but it dries really quick (under 30 seconds...lots of alcohol in it!) so I wouldn't be worried as long as you're getting it on the skin and not just on the hair. Maybe just try to hold him for a couple minutes afterwards just to be sure? Or while he's sleeping or deeply involved with attacking a favorite bully stick or something? |

| OMG lele1672!!! I am SO glad you found it before something bad happened!!!! Man, I REALLY need to find that greenie now and TOSS IT OUT! Thanks MorkieMomii! Aren't they hilarious?! LOL I do try and distract him and get him to play immediately after, but ALL he cares about is RUBBING IT OFF! LOL I will try doing it when he's asleep next time. I do part the hair completely and put it directly on his skin. I used to use Advantage also and hated it (only because my vet doesn't carry Revolution)!! It stayed wet for so long and smelled so bad! With my previous dog I always used Revolution, so I just switched back to that with Pixel. It makes me feel better to know how quickly it moves. By the way, a greenie is a little green treat. Here's a picture of it http://www.petnutritionproducts.com/...-45-Treats.jpg Princes mom - Yeah, that's where I put it but he instantly tries to rub it off. I will try it in his sleep next time as morkiemomii suggested or just hold him for awhile to prevent him from rubbing. Thanks! JPop & Taz 2 - Sorry I can't help you. I've never even heard of those. I would think the groomer wouldn't give them out if they were dangerous though, due to liability. ReesiesDad - Hahahaha that is too cute! A greenie is a treat. See the link just about this where I posted a picture. sugarmamma - Awww she goes to great lengths to hide her treats!!! lol MI Yorkielover - How funny!! Maybe Pixel didn't like it then and I won't have to worry about him getting it out and eating it when i'm not paying attention. I hope so! hillies - Aaaah! The RUG!!! I will have to check there!!! I didn't even think of that! Sneaky little Stella! LOL It helps to know how quickly it dries. Advantage took forever!! Thank you so much for the tips! |
