| Can you tell a yorkies age by their coat? Can you tell from a yorkie's coat what age they might be? When we rescued Jake I was told he was about 8 months, but he has alot of plague on his teeth,so I was suspisciious of his age and the vet thought he was a little older also because of his teeth. If his age is correct he would be about 1 now. I was told today that because of how his coat has turned that he would be older than a year. Our last yorkie was 10 and we got him when he was 6 so I am not familiar with the changes when they are younger just what they go through in old age. I doesn't matter to me how old he is but I was wondering what you ladies how have raised pups think? Pic when we first got him and one now |

| I am by no means an expert on this, but I have read on YT that some people have known of babies taking up to 3 years to fully change coats and then some change faily quickly, so I would guess that coat change isn't a good predicter of age. My Harley, who has a cotton coat, turned 1 and May and is still as black and gold as the day we brought him home! Jeri and Harley |

| By the way! We are not Amish LOL, I took Jake to one of our civil war reenactment events today! Hubby is dressed as a union soldier! Jake loved it. He was so fascinated by the tents and everything.

| Coat turning is not an indicator at all of his age. I hae a friend that has two one year old yorkies that are fully turned. I have one the same age that is just now turning. i also have one that is one year that is going in for a teeth cleaning in a few days. no matter what I do, she has terrible plaque build up. |

| Thanks! I have been looking at various yorkies on here and I have noticed they are all different colors. I see that 2 can be the same age and have entirely different coloring. Our old guy pretty much stayed black and this guy is so different. Thanks for the advice!
