| Need Help with a Dog Trick HI, Allie is going to be in a pooch pageant next weekend and I was hoping someone could help me with a trick idea I have. Since she is quite the Diva, I wanted to have her choose some toys over others. For Instance I would give her a regualr dog ball and would want her to turn her nose up at it, then i would give her a cute toy and want her to take it. Any ideas on what I could put on these toys to make her want/ignore them?

| Bitter apple spray might work. Its a spray that people can spray on items that they don't want their dogs to chew on. It takes terrible (I've tasted it ). So if she reactes to it then it might work, but make sure that you don't spray it on balls she does play with.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I think you can just teach her Leave It / Take It. It should be pretty easy. You just want to do a hand cue, rather than a voice cue, which dogs respond to better anyway. Like, maybe if you offer her the toy and tap it with your finger, it actually means "Leave It."

| Quick Silver may be on to something! But instead of saying "leave it" say "here ya go" and teach the command of leave it. Then say "want this?" and teach the command of take it.... I saw a dog show once and the trainer just used different words for the commands - like sit meant lay down. Play Dead meant jump, etc. It was hilarious because the dog never did what the audience thought is should do - but the dog was doing exactly what it was trained to do!
