| Heaven Can Wait animal shelter Ok I saw this on the local news today and it made me sick. There is a local animal shelter here in Akron Ohio called Heaven Can Wait that had to have its own animals rescued from it. I hope that you all can see the conditions of this place here is the link. .http://www.ohio.com/multimedia/photo_galleries/viewer?galID=50793932 |

| That is just sooo sad. I am happy for the dogs they were found. Those poor babies. Now they will get some real help from caring people to find them forever homes. |

YT 500 Club Member | That made me sick to look at. It's terribly disgusting. I hope all the animals are in somewhat good health and can be rehomed.

| I just went to there web site and they are asking for donations and a new house . This is unreal they want their animals back. What did they do with the other donations that they received not buy cleaning supplies that is for sure. I understand that bit cost money to vet all of the animals but I am sure that $60 of the donations could have gone to cleaning supplies . |

| had a similiar situation here in NC, where the "rescue" was worse than a LOT of the homes the animals came from. Sometimes its someone with good intentions that just gets overwhelmed...and sometimes its just 9 kinds of crazy.... kate |

| Same here I knew a lady who rescued every stray cat she could find, she was on SS and took what ones she could to the vet , she really loved those cats but she just got into a mess with taking in so many that they over ran her place and she could not care for them all,she wouldn't let any go because she was afraid they wouldn't have good loving homes , yet she just couldnt understand that her home wasn't good for them either. |

| How sad for the animals. I am sure when she originally started her intentions were good but obviously she is lacking in many areas... cleanliness, room...

YT 1000 Club Member | I saw a show on this once with an older man. They call them hoarders I think. He really was trying to do right by them but it just got to be way too much. They did a good job on the show explaining how these people get into this situation.

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | That just makes me sick and mad. People should only have as many animals that they can take care of. I have my three and could take care of one more but that's it. It just makes me sick to see dogs or cats in that type of situation.

| This mooring I decided to take another look at the Heaven Can wait web site. I read what others have posted an thought that I should take a step back and look at this again. Maybe this lady was really tiring and just got overwhelmed. Today on her web site she explains herself ( I do not agree with most of her explanations but that is just me) this is the link if you care to read it. THE TRUTH |

As for Jodi & the Akron Health Department... if you work with them and show progress - they will work with you. I currently own multiple properties which were obtained with city orders on them. Jodi and the Health Department didn't single out this place... they were in the area. They hit our in the area just a few weeks before they went to this property. Jodi has a job to do! Her job is to make sure progress continues on the houses in their system and at some point are removed because all orders are complete or the house is knocked down. Yes, if more issues are found they will be added to the orders... just as they have done on our houses. It can be Jody, but that is the job of the inspector... to make sure the house are in good condition when they are removed from the system. Also as to chipping paint... the house is very old. Which means that the chipping paint - probably contains lead. Which is a big problem in the area this house is located. Meaning that chipping paint - even if a "small" area is a health hazard and should be a concern of the home owner not just the health department. Especially if children/elderly are coming around to "view" the animals for adoption or "volunteer" in the house. Lead can cause major health issues to children & elderly. In addition to the conditions the animals had to live and the smell that could be smelled at the street (which couldn't have been good for all those little noses and eyes)... my other issue is that one of the people that ran this place is an Akron City Council member. Which means that she helps make the rules she didn't follow. If I was to house over 100 animals in my 4 bedroom home - I can't imagine what the city would do to me! Can you imagine over 100 animals in an 1868 sq ft house. Yes, they may have cleaned the cages once a day, but animals go to the bathroom more then once a day. And many people say the property was cleaned weekly, but with over 100 animals on the property was once a week enough? I know cleaning my house once a week is out of the question and I only having 2 cats, 2 birds and 3 kids... or my house is not liveable. I think they were trying to help the animals, but they took on more then they or the house could handle. Which put the animals in an unhealthy living enviroment. And I understand why Jodi felt it was necessary to get the search warrant and raid the house and shut it down. Like i said... I saw the house when it was on the market with city orders on it & in my opinion the house look like it was in worse shape when it was raided then it was when I looked at it. Plus, Heaven Can Wait refused to allow the Akron Health Department into property for almost a year... AHD needs to update the files atleast every 60 days as long as the property is in their system. Like I said Jodi & the people at the health department were just doing their jobs! It wasn't any form of revenge as they keep saying it was! | |
