| update, hello, and questions hi everyone, i know i haven't been around in a while. i still read just haven't had time to post much. been busy now that kids are home from school, summer sports, ect. toby is doing well.... he is 4.5 months and weighs 3.8 pounds. he starts puppy classes july 11th which i'm excited about few questions... he can be mouthy...mostly when he is excited. i take him to my son's t-ball/soccer games and when the kids want to pet him, he wants to chew them... any advice on that? second, he is going to the groomer for the first time today to get his feet, sanitary area, face, nails, ears, and shampoo/conditioner done.... any advice for that? things i should take, ask, ect.?? its my first time as well as his. she is squeezing him in b/c i had to move my appointment and said he will be done after 1.5-2 hours.... and last, potty training. he does so GOOD as long as i'm consistant on taking him out every like, one and a half hours. my husband says i should start strectching the time out... but I KNOW he wont tell me if he has to go... as long as he is outside he goes outside, but if he is inside and has to go... i KNOW he would find a little corner (he has done it a handful of times) Oh and he can hold it like 4/5 hours in the crate, and alllll night. so when should he start telling me he has to go out??? am i i creating a monster taking him out so often? thanks so much everyone!! i will try to post some before and after groomer pictures later |

| Make sure you tell the groomer exactly what you want him to do. Otherwise, you will not be happy and could have a completely shaven puppy! I didnt bring anything the first time I went, but I did tell the groomer to come out and I went over everything I wanted done and asked them to repeat it so that I knew they knew what I wanted. She came out perfect! I would definitely get his nails clipped every few weeks, but for grooming, I give her a bath every other week and every other month or so will get her groomed. As for the potty training, I started to take Lola out every 2 hours. Now, she can wait 3-4 maybe more at times. I have no idea how to teach her to let me know when she needs to go out. Also, I have a wee wee pad in her xpen and she knows to use it when she is in there (if we leave her or in the middle of the night), but when she is running around the house, forget it, it escapes her that she can go in there to pee. So, if there is an accident, I usually blame myself since I should have taken her out sooner. I am hoping to figure out a way to teach her to let me know she needs to go potty. |

| 4.5 months is still pretty young, if he's doing well with 1 1/2 hour potty times then I wouldn't stop that. Is he pottying everytime you take him out? If not, then maybe try to strech it a little. The important thing is to not set him up to fail. You want to keep up the good success that you have going.
