Ok I have had Ella for 4 weeks... and I am worn out!! Lol she is so much work. And just when I think potty training is perfect she has an accident. Still.... She is doing so good for being just 13 weeks old.

She is actually fairly calm- except when people come to see her and she goes nuts and tries to eat their hair and ears lol.

And lately she will disappear and when I call her she will come back with a Flip flop in her mouth. She loves them so I gave her one of my old ones that I was going to throw out. Nah... she says she prefers ones that are forbidden.

Love her to death lol.... But whew... just tell me that it gets easier? lol I know it will be a while.

If you give her one of your flip flops then you are telling her it is ok to chew on them as she has no way of knowing which ones are throw aways. Get her her own toys and if she picks up your shoes, take it away from her and replace it with her own.

Just 13 weeks old!

She is still way young!! Ya' got a way to go yet!!

It does get better.They are so cute at that age and oh so much energy.
My Abby is 10 months old and at times still wears me out but she is so much better. I had my last yorkie for almost 14 years so I forgot what it was like to have a puppy again.

Hollee, I've had Bailey over a week and I know what you are talking about!

It's the early mornings that are wearing me out, he had me up 5am this morning for a feeding and playtime, now he is conked out and I'm wide awake!

I feel so lucky!! Gracie Belle is 11 1/2 weeks she sleeps all night in a play pen next to my bed. Never whimpers or cries. If she wakes up and hears me go to the bathroom I hold her or a minute and then back to bed she goes. She uses her potty pads pretty much without fail in her play pen and sleeps in her kennel in the pen with the door open. I wanted her to sleep with me but she actually sleeps better in her own "room" (the playpen).

Yes, it definitely gets easier. But you have a way to go yet. Potty training can be very challenging with a yorkie. Both my boys were trained around 9 months old, and started to 'get it' around 6 months. But some YTers have said their yorkies potty trained much earlier. It just depends on the dog. At 13 weeks, she will probably have to go every hour or so.

Either way, be consistent, praise and reward good behavior. Good luck!

Sounds like a Yorkie!!lol It gets much easier as they get older and use to your routine.

LOL, You are so right, just when you think they are trained, they have an accident. Today we were in bed watching tv and she just squatted and peed on the bed spread like it was the normal thing to do. Thank goodness for the advice on these boards or I probably would have stuck her nose in it.
It's only been 2 weeks so I know it will take time. I took a long weekend this week to work on the training. Layla is 19 weeks old and has seemed to learn a lot in the 2 weeks that we have had her.

You think it's the hardest weeks but it's also the ones you miss the most!

Things will start to calm down in a few months! Good luck!

I just brought a new baby 6days ago! My Little 8week old Shih Tzu. She is a handful allright! My 15month old Yorkie is still young too. I am delighted that Suzi is doing very well with Miley our baby. Thank goodness Suzi has been nice, and curious about little Miley.
Having two has made it a little easier, because the puppy looks up to Suzi. My baby is already going poop and pee (sometimes) on the potty pads

I am tired though. i have been sleeping on the couch so I can be close to Miley as she is so tiny and young. My bed is too high for Miley to sleep on safely. Suzi stays with me on the couch, shile MIley is right there next to us on her new bed, or blanket. Miley can stand up on her hind legs to the couch, but thats all. I had gone to my own bed one am, and then I heard Miley crying. I guess i'll be sleeping on the couch for a little while.

You mean you are supposed to be able to go back to a real bed?

Even though having a well-behaved and mature dog seems like a million miles away right now, try to stay positive... the stronger and more dedicated you are now (which does tend to mean the less sleep you get unfortunately - both from being up so much with her and from worrying and stressing so much while you're actually technically able to be sleeping), the sooner your pup will start to learn the ropes of living in your house. It's not easy, and it doesn't happen overnight even if you are the most perfect mommy in the world, but things do start to settle down eventually.

Nikko stopped having accidents in the house at around 5 months old, then started really acting like our home was his home and relaxing at around 6 months old, and then by about seven or eight months, he actually started to calm down a little bit. I think he's somewhere around 10 months old by now, and we are still watching Nikko gradually calm down more and more - although it's not like he has any LACK of energy when it's time to play or go for a walk, lol. And I'm also not saying he's perfectly well-behaved either... he still has his moods and his vices (like chewing on his harness like it's a doggie pacifier when he gets tired), but overall, I can tell you how amazed at how far he's come...
