| Kingston Well I took the King to go and get his boosters, rabies, and bordatella shots today. He did great but his last set of shots they put him down as 2.8lbs, but put down 3lbs and at this visit he was 2.14lbs and they weighed him like three times. The vet kept apologizing but was concerned about his weight. I kept telling her that I free feed and he usually tends to eat more towards the evening, but he did eat some this morning. She thinks he will be a 5lb boy...I wanted him to be bigger But as long as he is healthy. Should I be worried I mean I felt like I was depriving him of food, for there weight mess up...Thats what happens when the techs are always in a hurry to get things over and done with....GRRRR I have 2 vets they are a married couple/team and today I had the wife and she is awesome, both of them are but she kept apologizing for the techs mess up, I didn't care I just don't want anyone thinking that I am starving him, etc. |

| We free feed as well. When I get worried that she isn't eatting enough, I open a can of wet food. She goes crazy over that and would eat every can in Florida if I let her. But when she gets hungry, she eats the dry. The first time our vet saw Allie she asked if "it ran on batteries." Allie is now a 7 pound baby, and I think she may still grow a bit (She's almost 5 months old)

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | He just might have a growth spurt and hit more than the 5lbs. You never know. As they grow they tend to eat more. Usually when you feed a high quality food I find that they don't eat a ton of food. Mine each eat probably a half a cup of food a day and they are healthy and crazy. Toby at 14 months weighs 4.5 lbs and Zoey at 21 months weighs 3.5lbs.

You can go to a number of foods like Wellness & Merricks that are corn free. You can go for the whole grain free as well. I used to feed Merricks because there was no corn. Then they made the Merricks BG which is totally without grain and that is what I feed now. Look at the overall amount of food he is eating a day and how many times he poos. For the most part when you free feed they lazily eat through out the day so you won't see them putting a big dent in their food at once. If they are on scheduled feedings then you will see that they get down to business once you put down the food. I never feed canned stuff. Others might but I am not big on the preservatives that they put in there and the other gunk to make it enticing. If he is not eating all that you might put in little pieces of veggies or fruits to entice him. I think once you get the canned food started that never stops. I think that some brands do have a puppy formula in the canned stuff. Check out your store. I never paid much attention to others but I do know that Merricks carrys a puppy wet. Allergies are definitely abound right now. Toby has a bit of it. Your surely seeing a lot of the itchiness if your food has corn. I find that more than less they are allergic to corn.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Tia is 1 year on the 4th July and Ive just weighed her and she is still 5lb 5 oz. I think she is done with growing as her weight has stayed the same for the last 2 months. She is on 2 meals a day, a little wet food with biscuit in the morning and a light snack in the evening such as scrambled egg or just biscuit.
