| Its been awhile Haven't posted for several weeks. I have been extremely busy with my twins and their softball season and graduation from high school. Ruby is doing great. I love her more and more every day if that's possible. She recently had blood work done for her spay surgery on the 25th of this month. All looks good. I really do dread it though. It is going to be difficult to keep her quiet for 10 days. She has a lot of energy, and loves to play with Max our Carn terrier. Wish me luck. I do have a question about the Onesie(sp) to keep her from licking her incision. Will the premie size be good for her? She weighs 5lbs. Also, how does that work for bathroom? |

| It must be fun to have twins with similar interests! Only one ball game to attend at a time and one graduation! It probably wouldn't be recommended to keep diapers on her all of the time. It's best to let her skin breathe sometimes. It might be in the risk of getting rashy otherwise. The vet should provide you with a cone for her to wear in as an attempt to prevent her from licking at her stitches. If you go the diaper route, you'd have to remove it for potty time. Good luck! |

I got the Gerber Onsies at Walmart... pkg of 5. Ones that snap in the crotch w/no legs in them - a pullover style. Put the Onsie on backwards so that the front of the shirt is on her back. But first cut directly below the snaps on the back side a hole large enough to allow her to pee/poop. Cut the hole just long enough to clear the way to potty. Place & snap the onsie just before the tail. She should do very well with this. Roxy never did end up peeing or pooping on the onsie. Roxy is 6.7 lbs & about 11" long from the neck to front of the tail. I had to get her the 8-12 lb size onsie for her. Others have been able to use the premie or newborn size. Depends on size/length of your dog. Roxy didn't even know she had stitches. The onsie has worked like a charm. If weather had gotten warmer I would have cut a few circles in various places in the shirt part for a little more ventilation, but it didn't get that warm. You could also cut the sleeves off too. The onsie was loose enough there was air flow in the belly area. Thanks to whoever suggested the onsie! LUV it & so did the vet! She had never seen this idea before. Good luck with keeping her quiet for 10 days. Roxy was back to 100% within 24 hours after surgery. Amazed me! Every attempt to keep her quiet turned into hyper energy. Finally let her play in the yard... the only thing that kept her quietest.

| I have not yet gotten my female fixed- but my boy was neutered at 5 months and the hardest part was keeping him calm. My vet used the dissolvable stitches and left them alone completely. The surgery barely phased him- and if yours is a pup I am sure the recovery will be fast! Best wishes and try not to worry, I was so scared for something so easy and he did so well.
