| ![]() It really is personal preference! I got a girl bc I did not want to deal with humping, spraying/marking and I am a bit squeemish when dogs little weewees come out LoL.. But I will say that Marley ( female ) is kinda moody like a human female at times haha. I have heard that the male dogs bond more with female humans and females bond more with male humans also somewhere on here. I have not had any proof of that though. Marley loves my DH and I equally I think. By the way, I live in an apartment too and Marley is so small ( 4 lbs ) that she runs crazy around everywhere. So I know this doesn't help, but either is a good choice in my books ![]()

| ![]() I mean, it's all personal preference. I say boy but I'm biased ![]() I was raised with girl dogs my whole life. The best girl dog we had was our Golden Retriever, Daisy. The others were all like human females - bitches! LOL. They get moody and alot more nippy and agressive around certain bones, etc. Whereas I've never had any of these moody problems with Jackson. He's SUCH a little boy! However, boys are a lot more needy and require more attention, I think. From what I've gathered on this website and others, males tend to cling to female owners more and female dogs cling to male owners more. Males also seem easier to train. But again, none of this is ALWAYS true.

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() I don't think it will matter - just look for a personality that matches yours. ![]() I didn't think I would be able to deal with narsty male dog behavior, but it's totally different when it's your dog. I even think Thor is cute when he's pooping. Okay, I'm not thrilled when he gets hot and bothered, but really, yorkies are so small and fun, it's no biggie (both literally and figuratively, ha ha).

| ![]() For the last few years we have had mostly girls for the exception of one we lost in 2007. I have never wanted another male but the breeder actually talked me into one, saying that once I have a male yorkie I would be sold. We picked him up last Sunday and let me tell ya, this little boy has won my heart. Good luck in whatever you chose because they are all darling in my book. |

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() I prefer females..I don't care for the male behavior either. One of the girls is more attached to me than Hubby...the younger one is just as attached to hubby as she is me.

| ![]() if it doesn't matter to you boy vs girl. Then I would go by which DOG melts your heart and wins you over. don't even take gender into the equation. Let the connection between you and the dog/puppy rule which one you get. You won't go wrong that way ![]() Good luck and let us know and post pictures. Also, when I was looking for my yorkie, I didn't take the first one I saw. A-L-L puppies are cute but be picky. You'll know when you've found the right one. |

| ![]() It really is up to you. I have both. I really wanted a girl and I got her first she is really independent and likes to have her loving when she wants it. She is also more mouthy just like us girls ![]() Yorkies Temperament | Male Yorkie | Female Yorkie

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Boys are usually more well behaved and more cuddily. My pets were almost always males in the past. My males don't fight; but there is a reason why they call the girls bitches!!! LOL |

| ![]() I am so biased...the boys have my heart, always, and forever. Neither of mine ever "marked" in the house...they were both well trained to go potty outside and outside only...and this includes marking.

| ![]() I am squeemish too about Male dogs and male anatomy in my bed at night.... so I demanded a girl. She is quite a diva, but worth every bit. In the beginning she bonded a little more with DH, but now she is a Mama's Girl! I can't go anywhere in the apartment without her right by me. I even lay down my clothes by the shower for her to lay on when I shower, because she has been known to jump in there before. Hmmm maybe I made her into the diva she is ![]()
