To register the Dog must be purebred- you must submit a copy or fill in form of the dogs pedigree and provide data from the AKC or other approved registry showing certificate information. They do research the data that you provide. They do demand that records be kept and have DNA testing. The nice thing about this registry is that handlers do not show here unless they own the dog. Dogs are shown only by owners or members of thier family.Takes some of the politics out of the game. It just gives another way to spotlight your dog. For example- Buster has his UKC title we are working on his AKC- plan to do International next spring and CKC (Canadian) next summer. Allows us to brag a bit more and would enable us to list him on pedigrees as AKC,International,CKC,UKC Champion So and SO. Shows that more then one registry that offers confirmation dog shows has felt that the dog is of quality. This is a marketing tool in advertising him for stud-increasing and mainting the price of puppies and the recognition of the kennel/owner/breeder of the dog.

| Just a sidenote...There are two "UKC"s...one is reputable, the other is not. The United Kennel Club holds sanctioned conformation shows and has strict registration requirements. The newer Universal Kennel Club I don't believe has any shows, and will register just about any dog. Ash

United - has classes in Conformation -Obedience -Agility and Scent. Your dog has to be a purebred Yorkie and you must prove it to become registered with them. They do research the information that you provde them- not every other reigistry is recognized by them when determing if your dog can be registered as a yorkie under them.

| I had questioned the UNIVERSAL Kennel Club on here some time ago, and no one seemed to know much about it... Those were the papers I got from the breeder, and since Dublin came from Ireland, I thought it was an Irish thing. I went to the web site, and it looks like anybody can just buy a registry from them. Tried Google -ing it and didn't get much info there either... I still have a wonderful pet, though...

| Dual registration There a wonderful - beautiful dogs that are registered in all of the different organizations. This in no way means that we love them less or that they love us less. I think of my showing the dogs like being the mom of a kid that is showing in beauty pagents. Remember that beauty is only skin deep. We still need and want to have that lively wonderful temperment- get into trouble personality that yorkies are known for. |
