| Someone called the COPS!!! We had a cookout yesterday and the kids were all in the pool and when the dogs are out they bark non-stop and chase the kids and go swimming also, its a loud fun time for them. Well about 630pm the cops came, they got a call for a noise disturbance. The cop was sooo nice about it, the dogs were not barking when he got there and I was holding Dexter talking to him trying to tell him that this 5lb terror is the barker they are complaining about! WHAT can I do??? I either lock them in the house away from the fun or get them to stop barking but how do I do that? They bark at EVERYTHING outside, from airplanes, to lawnmowers, to the kids in the pool, birds that fly over them while chirping, the shopvac and broom we use to clean the pool area, the pool brush... I mean everything. I don't know what to do!!!

| That's ridiculous. I hate when people do stuff like that (calling the cops for no good reason). Couldn't they have just came and knocked on your door and politely told you to keep it down or something? That seems more neighbor-like, lol. On the other end of the spectrum, as a neighbor, barking can definitely be VERY annoying. I started Jackson very young to knock that noise off when I tell him to. I used coins in a can to train him to stop barking when I say. He's not really a barker unless he's around my dad's Jack Russell mix who barks at everything but even then, all I have to do is call his name and 99% of the time, he comes running to me. It's a very annoying thing when you're not used to the noise and I am constantly ready to pull my hair out when I'm visiting over my dad's house because of his damn dog. I try to disipline her since nobody else does. People who don't have dogs don't really appreciate the noise, lol. However, I would never keep my dogs inside and away from the fun, barkers or not... and I would never ever call the cops because of a dog barking, no matter how annoying. Cops have better things to take care of, what a waste of that officers time.

| a bunch of my neighbors keep their dogs outside (at least that is what it sounds like) and i would never dream of calling the cops on them! i think unless they are barking really loud non-stop, there is no reason the other night the city was doing fireworks for memorial day and wow, alllll the outside dogs were going crazy but still, it never occurred to me to call the cops!!! sheesh. i am very glad the cops were nice about it! they probably rolled their eyes at the situation once they left thinking the people who called are crotchety people!

| You're allowed to make noise at 6:30 PM. I can't believe someone called the police on you - not to mention that it was Memorial Day and most people were celebrating with cook-outs, etc. Whoever called the police must be crazy IMHO.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | OMG that's crazy...I could see if it was 2am in the morning but 6:30pm and Memorial Day?? What a waste of taxpayer money calling the cops on this. Too bad you couldn't find out whom the neighbor was..hahaha..maybe they were lonely and next time invite them over for a burger.

| Yeah, the dogs were annoying with all their barking, I totally admit it. We put them in the house for HOURS to keep them quiet so they didn't annoy our guests, but after that we let them out for maybe 2 hours and they barked almost non-stop. But I was on top of them yelling to stop barking, they just don't listen. I would never dream of calling the cops for dogs barking either. I mean they are dogs, and we own the house and it was not at 7am or 10pm... it was after 12pm (noon) and before 7pm. The cop said he had to come and make sure that we were not running a kennel or anything LOL uuumm no... Seriously though, they do need to quiet down and yelling at them does not work. Its loud, the kids are splashing and yelling and the dogs are barking so they don't even hear me they are sooo concentrated on the kids. Not sure what to do except keep them in the house, maybe an hour in and 20 mins out or something??

| Oh I have an idea on who called... ironic part about that is they own a business and from 7am in the morning starts the heavy machinery and dump trucks up and down the road. Plus they have 2 dogs that bark .. not like mine though I'll admit that!

| If your dogs bark all the time and cause a constant distrubance, if it's late at night, if there is always a constant party level noise emmenating from your house, if you had a neighbor that works a night shift....THEN I can understand someone calling to complain. (You did admit it was abnoxiously loud.) But on Memorial Day at 6:30, a holiday weekend known for cookouts and outdoor fun....geez, that's a bit much. |

| I am in agreement that I would not call the cops either. We have some very yappy dogs in the neighborhood and I can understand them having a get together and the dogs barking more than usual. However, if you are wanting to try and deter some of the barking, I have been using an ultrasonic device to get mine to stop barking so much in the house (especially at 2AM~ my sleep was suffering!!) I am not in favor of shock collars, etc but I compare the ultrasonic device for them to the barking for me! The reports I saw say it works for some but not for others. It worked for mine! Like magic!! Good luck!

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | We live in a neighborhood full of dogs and I hear barking often. Halle is my worst barker (or so it seems maybe because her bark is high & shrill); she barks at anything & everything, or nothing in particular. Multiply that by 3 dogs (my trio) and it gets VERY loud. I myself feel very paranoid of disturbing the neighbors even though there are dogs all around, so I normally don't let mine bark for more than a minute or so. Yes, we are out there often telling them to "quiet" and/or trying to distract them from what is making them bark. If they absolutely will not stop, then inside they go. Sometimes they seem to listen fairly well, other times they are as stubborn as mules.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | A barking dog is an annoying dog , trust me I have one next door to me but I would never call the cops about it , ever. Its a real sweety but she gets thrown in the garden and neglected. We have family BBQs and it yapps constantly it was blinking annoying! My neighbour doesn't care and just goes out and leaves it there. So if it was on an odd occasion , fine, but we get this every erm summer, winter, autumn and oh yes spring. Have you tried squirting with a water gun that has been known to work.May even try that myself lol
