Yorkie Yakker | Poor Bella! Hey everyone, Just looking for some ideas to make sure she doesnt get too upset! My partner has decided that Bella isnt allowed to sleep in the bed with us when she is older so I have decided to enforce it now before she gets too attached. She has only done it for a few nights. I have bought her a heat pad so she should be nice and cosy in her crate, but im not going to lock her in just yet! I love the way she cuddles between us and im going to miss her in bed with us! Its amazing how quickly you get attached to them! Any ways, does any one have any ideas on how to stop her getting too upset. She cried last night when we took too long to put her in bed with us!

| Too late Seems like your partner may be jealous. It happens. Compromise by sleeping between your partner & Bella.

| If you have to sleep her elsewhere then try putting a shirt or some article of clothing with your scent on it in the crate with her. She will be more comfortable being able to smell you. Try an xpen instead of a crate, she can move around and have a pad if you are using them plus toys. If you do use a crate sit it where she can see you and give her a small toy. In any case let her see you. Be careful with the cord if you are using a regular heating pad. She can chew through it quicker than you think. There are heating pads for dogs that do not have cords. Good luck, she should be just fine. The clock was a typo and I can't seem to delete it. Last edited by camile; 05-24-2009 at 03:05 PM. |

| Where is her bedtime crate located? It would be great if it's at least in the same bedroom so your yorkie still feels like part of the pack. Give lots of treats when she goes into the crate at night. She will learn to love it. |

| I agree that having something with your scent on it will comfort your puppy during the night. Use a blanket that she can snuggle up with. She needs your smell on her bed. I do not know why she is not allowed on your bed anymore, however, this will be a rough transition for her since she has already been sleeping on the bed with you guys. if it all possible, could you make a little bed for her in your room? or does she know how to jump on your bed? If so, then having her in a separate room would be the answer . Just be certain she is comfortable , and don't use anything that she can chew through, that would be dangerous. my Suzi is allowed to sleep on my bed, and there has not ever been any problems. She is protective, and I feel safe when she's with me. Is your partner really being reasonable? I just do not understand myself why it would be such a big deal?

Yorkie Yakker | "Goodbye, partner" lol so true! He doesnt mind while she is a puppy but doesnt want to all the time. The crate is in our room and the cord it tucked out the back of the crate so she cant chew it. He says no then changes his mind when she is whining pitifully lol he gives in to her more than I do.
