| Stressing SOOO Much!! Hi! I havent been on here in a few months! I've been super busy with school and work. Well now I have a bigger situation to worry about. I dont think I'm giving Riley enough attention. :-( When I got Riley, I was with my ex. So he and I both kept Riley entertained. Well now that I'm single, I'm hardly ever at home. Riley wrecks my apartment when I'm not there. I've gotten a letter from my building manager about his noise and barking too. I've been going back and forth about selling him, but I really dont wanna do that. It feels like hes not getting the attention he needs. In a way I dont wanna get rid of him because I love him. I've had him since August 2007. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Can you get a dog walker / take him to doggy daycare? Do you have a neighbor, maybe with a friendly dog, who could take him for a few hours in the day? Is there no way that you can adjust your schedule to visit with him several times per day? You can get interactive toys that will occupy your dog during the day. However, if you're going back and forth about keeping him, I'm thinking maybe he should be re-homed. I honestly can't imagine a situation where I could give up Thor, and I would be willing to make major sacrifices to make sure he has the attention he needs. Yorkies are very needy, so if you're not willing to figure out how to make him a major part of your life, maybe it would be better to put him somewhere he can get what he needs.

I am very sorry to hear about the problems that you are having. Yorkies, well, actually all puppies require a lot of attention. I live in southern Illinois, if you decide that you have to sell him, please let me know I am very interested. I have a lil girl coming in a few weeks and it just can't come soon enough!! I just had a major car accident and I'm in need of some major yorkie love! LOL He would be in great care here so just let me know what you decide. I can PM my contact info if you would like! Lots of luck to you!

| Stephanie, A dog walker saved things for us awhile back. We don't need her anymore, but there was a time. Also, I found if I get up 15 minutes earlier and walk the dorkies before I get ready for work it really helps. Then 15 minutes when you do get home. It's such a small amount of time, but can pay off huge rewards. I'd hate to see you have to rehome. It sounds like you're going through some big changes in your life, but these will pass and things will settle down. Good luck, hang in there and pm me if you need to vent

| I think the dog walker, & a vigorous early morning walk are good ideas. I would also get him an x-pen. It may take some time to get him used to it. Try short periods with a treat to get him in, toys to play with, & a bed. I give Gus a stuffed Kong when I put him in the pen. He then focuses on getting the stuffing out of the Kong, & after that's accomplished it's sleepy time. My rationale for the x-pen is that he should be sleeping most of the day. With the full freedom of your apartment he's distracted. You might be able to put the pen in an area where he is comfortable with the surroundings, but barking can be minimally heard outside the apartment.
