I just spent the last hour+ ripping the skirts off my couch and chair.

I must be a bad mommy. I can't break these boys from lifting their legs on the skirts of my furniture. Everytime I cleaned it, it seemed like they thought "Thank you for cleaning my toilet" and they used it all the more.

The living room was really starting to smell bad, but it's better now. I don't think anybody will notice the skirts are gone unless I tell them.

May I suggest "belly bands"???

Have they been neutered? If not, that may break the habit, if they're not too old yet. I have a male, got him at 5 1/2 mos and had him neutered the next day. He pees on the pee pads and does better than the girls(doesn't lift his leg insdie), but, now when he's outside playing, he'll lift his little leg

Caesar was a stud when I was still breeding and he only weighs 3lbs 5oz. I don't want to have him or his son Hero, who only weighs 4lbs under anesthesia. I'm afraid of losing them, they are so precious to me. The are even more precious to me since I lost Lucy to heart failure last September. I can't go through that again.

As far as belly bands, I've never had one on Hero, but they rub against poor Caesar's legs and make them raw.

i am sorry about lucy.

milu was only 2.6 lbs when she was spayed. (she is now 3 lbs)

i think we all worry about it when they have to go under anesthesia.
but milu had gone under anesthesia twice, once for spay, and once to remove broken teeth.

it is fine if the vet uses the safe kind of anesthesia for small dogs.

I think anything over 3 lbs is very safe to have them under anesthesia. Mine isn't going to even get to 3 lbs, but, I'm still going to have her spayed probably sometime this summer(she's 11 mos). My vet has said that little ones actually tend to do better as they get less aneshesia. Down here at the animal shelter, to adopt a puppy, it has to be spayed/neutered first, and some of them aren't even 2 lbs.
You will have to put belly bands on your male, as once they're used for studding, they will mark the rest of their lives. My sister had a maltese she used for breeding, and she rehomed him, as he kept marking all over her house after the first time he was bred.

belly bands is your best option for this you have 2 males and they are both going to keep marking there territory after one another that is why i always suggest a female and a male if your going to have two yorkies.

Well, unless they were neutered at early ages, then they don't do the marking when you have 2 of them

I agree with this, we was having the same problem with Mickey . so we had to put a gate up in the hallway to better keep an eye on him and we also put a small trash can on the edge of his peepad for him to lift his leg there. its really helped. once they start marking and get older its very hard to break them. I have the belly bands too but I dont like useing them only if I take them to some ones house. They rub mickeys legs too and he will pee in them and with him having two surgerys I dont want to chance him getting an infection.
