| Input needed Hello. I havent been here in a while, but wanted to ask a question. I wonder how many other Yorkies act like mine. Rocky is very independent. He has his times during the day when he will go hang out under my bed and nap. He sleeps with me most of the times at night, but sometimes will jump off the bed and go to his little bed next to mine. 1.He does not run around in the park like a wild animal, he has his own pace, we do play fetch but only if he is in the mood and after he poops. 2.He does not like other dogs, only once he like a small yorkie his size, 5 lbs. 3.He is not hyper at all. He loves to play and run around the house which he loves in the morning mostly, then the rest of the day is tame. He goes crazy when I come home or parents and gives kisses for half an hour. 4. He does bark at strangers outside the door, or when my mother will come in to take something out of the room. My main issue, and its not a big one, he doesnt run around outside like a normal dog, when we went hiking last year he was trailing behind me and it wasnt the best. By X girlfriends Yorkie thats 12 lbs on the other hand was all over and loved the hike. On the other hand I like the fact that he is not a dasher and will follow me in the park and walk around himself without running away without a leash. Anyone have a Yorkie that is on a tame side? I love him dearly and he is a perfect dog otherwise!!! |

My furkids Donating Member | I don't think anything is wrong with him...When I take my 2 girls outside they run around for a bit and play, pee and poop but, then they just stand there and watch me work. He is his own person (dog).

| He sounds like a well rounded, well behaved canine citizen. Very intuned to what he wants and that you are the pack leader. Don't equate running around like a crazy fool with having fun. I'm sure he had a blast on your hike and at the park. If he didn't like it you wouldn't be able to drag him along.

| Sounds pretty much like Jackson, except the dogs part. Jackson loves all dogs, big and small!

| OK, I am glad we are not the only ones. I was starting to feel that maybe he is insecure or just scared of something. Other than that, perfect house dog, loves going for rides and sticking his head out the window and all. Some pics, Rocky being a co-pilot! |

| I have a tame dog and then I have a hyper dog. Jeremiah is pretty laid back. He doesn't run around much but he likes to go outside and sun bathe on the porch. I don't really have any problems with him unless when it comes to strangers. He barks and he sometimes nibbles ... I am still teaching him that nibbling is a no-no. But I think as dogs get older, they tend to have a more relaxed attitude. But BJ, OMG. BJ is the most hyper dog I have ever had in my whole entire life! He runs, he jumps, he loves to play. Sometimes I feel bad because I can't pick up with the little fella and he is a Momma's boy. He is the youngest of the two and he is a handful. When the two play with each other ... no let me rephrase that, when BJ wants to play with Jeremiah, it's interesting because Jeremiah just tolerates it and goes out of his comfort zone to play with his little brother. For just a little bit. So I guess it really depends on the dog's personality!

| Count your blessings. I would do anything if Chloe Primrose was even a little laid back. She is a wild child!!! Everything excites her. Even getting her ready to go for a walk is exhausting. And she barks at every thing, any object placed in a different spot, any new thing or even the iron (I iron each night for the next day) she barks and jumps for it during the whole time. I have tried everything and nothing works or doesn't work for long. I am at my wits end with her. I think she must have been zapped with a lightening bolt right up her kazoo when she was born. She is 8 mos. and I am hoping she will calm down as she gets older but I'm not betting any money on it. |
