| My baby's birthday Tina will be 12yrs. old Sunday. Hard to believe this little thing made it this far. She was diagnosed with VonWellingbrand's disease a few years ago. We almost lost her, but with alot of prayer and a vet that knew what she was doing she saved her. I would like to make her a little birthday cake since they have soooo many toys. She will probably get more toys but I was wondering if anyone had a receipe that I could feed both my schnauzers and yorkie. Tina is a toy schnauzer and about the size of Kayla. They are prone to pancreatis so I would like something that didn't have alot of fat or sugar content. I would appreciate it so much if someone could suggest a real good recipe for my baby. I have never made them cake before and I just thought it would be something special for my little aging girl. She is a sweetie. |

| Thanks everyone. Looks like I might have to do alittle research. Tina is truely our little miracle. She had just had bloodwork done with her Welliness exam and so I didn't have it done when she was spayed. It had been done a week before. She almost bled to death on the table and even when she made it through my vet was afraid that she was going to bleed out at home. The vet that spade her had been there for years. He really did not know what to do in treating this. I talked with vets all over Dallas and we even had our church pray for this little girl. Well, in the mean time they hired a new vet and she was truely an answer to prayer. She knew exactly what to do. God answers prayers and this little baby certainly had God looking out for her. Her placnet (sp.) count was so low it was unbelivabe. I had her blood work done every week for a long time and I guess when I had enough faith it was going to stay up we stopped and she has been perfect every since. God is good!!!! |

| ~ Happy Birthday dear Tina, Hope you get a lot of nice Here are 2 recipes that I've used before with great success. I usually don't put a "frosting" on them because I like to just put the cake down for all the doggie party guest to eat on and the frosting gets more into their hair then their tummies. LOL Peanut Butter Delight 1 cup white or whole wheat flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 cup peanut butter 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 cup shredded carrots 1 tsp vanilla 1/3 cup honey 1 egg Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a ring mold sprayed with a nonstick spray for 40 minutes. Frost this cake with low fat cottage cheese and decorate with carrot pieces. Store in refrigerator. OR Apple of My Eye" Mini Muffin Poppers 1 large apple 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/4 cup oatmeal 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 Tbs honey 2 eggs 1 cup grated cheddar cheese Mini Muffin Cups Frosting : One 8 oz package Neufchatel Cheese (low fat cream cheese), room temperature 2 Tbs plain yogurt 2 Tbs honey Directions: Preheat oven to 400° F (200 ° C). Core, slice and mince apple. Set aside. In a large bowl, mix together flour, oatmeal, baking powder, and baking soda. In a medium bowl, blend together the yogurt, water, oil, honey, and eggs, then stir in the apple and cheese. Add to the flour mixture and stir until mixed. Place mini muffin cups in muffin tins, and spoon in batter, filling each cup about three-quarters full. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean. Let rest in the muffin tins for a few minutes, then remove and set aside to cool. Frosting directions: Combine Neufchatel cheese (at room temperature), honey, and yogurt until smooth. Spread on muffins. Makes about 3 dozen mini muffins. If you prefer to make a single-layer cake instead, spoon the batter into a sheet pan and bake for an extra 10 minutes.

| Thanks soooo much. They sound great. I think I will try the cake without the icing. Schnauzers have beards and even little Kayla has a beard so I think it would be better to leave the gooie stuff off. They would love it but I think they will enjoy the cake without icing too. They are all 3 little pigs and they don't turn down anything. Tina will really enjoy this. I bought her a little bone charm to go on her collar today. Its pink with little rhinestones. I bought her a new bed thats pink too. Real cute. She just has so many toys and it was real funny because she knew that bed was hers. They are just like kids. lol!!!!!! |
