Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Went Back To Petco Today I wanted to get the Pumpkin treats so I thought why not? It was a Friday that I was there and saw the groomer being so mean to the poor dog so I thought I'd see if she was there again. It was later in the day I was there last time, but when I walked in I saw a "Now Hiring" sign with a list of positions open. Manager, groomer, assistant groomers were on the list too. The General Manager I spoke to that day was still there, and the girl behind the desk in the grooming area, and one sales person but I didn't recognize anyone else in the store or grooming area. Don't know if it had to do with my complaint or not but changes are being made it seems. I hope that groomer is really gone and I didn't just miss her.

| I was looking for a groomer here yesterday.Thought I would stop into Petco and ask about their grooming procedures. A) I didn't like the smell when I walked in Kinda like wet dog and poo. B) I wasn't impressed by the groomer at all. C) Very minimal knowledge for my basic questions. After I read a thread here stating that her little guy was "bruised" one time from a groomer at petco. Uh No thanks. So we went to Scooby Doo's. Great people smelled nice when you walk in. Mia just loved it. Glad I shopped around. I got a referal from my vet.

| I hate to say this, cuz i know some people on this board love petsmart or petco, but to be honest, i was a grooming assistant for 2 yrs, and the way that i saw the groomers in those stores really mortified me. I would really say that if your vet has a groomer, i would use them only because if something should happen to your baby, the doctor is there and can help out your pet. I just trust VERY FEW groomers, and i'd feel better with a vet on site. Sorry if this came off harsh.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Your words are nowhere near as harsh as the way that groomer treated that dog. I think you have a good point, pick your groomer wisely. Accidents happen, let's not invite them.

| Stormy was groomed at the vets office before I picked her up and it is one hell of a horrible grooming job Some pieces are longer some are shorter, I never asked for her to be shaved, they decided on their own, she was the vets pet at the moment before he decided to give her back to me, so I didn't say anything but jeez she could of done it even lol As for petsmart/petco. I brought my yorkipoo to get groomed there once and they refused the haircut I wanted because THEY thought it was TOO SHORT. I wanted a lion cut. So needless to say I am definitely NEVER bringing my dog there again! Last edited by yorkie_mama22; 05-02-2009 at 06:56 AM. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Our Yorkie is a rescue and due to her separation anxiety (which is getting better) I had to stop using the groomer I used for the last 12 years and find another. I found a lady who has a shop at her home, she only does one dog at a time and allows me to stay. So far I've been pleased with the outcome, our Yorkie always looks great when we leave.

| I took my Oliver to petsmart once because I had a coupon, I figured why not... bad idea. First of all when I went to check him in they asked for his rabies vaccination and I told him I would give him the number to my vet, his response was "Oh i'll just take your word I dont want to call.". That should have been a red flag. Whn they called to tell me he was ready it was "your dog is ready". Oliver came home with a cut on his inner back leg... I was furious. I will never take my dogs to a chain pet store to be groomed ever again. The price may be higher at other places but the service is well worth it. |
