| Need advice My 7 year old Yorkie jumped off our very high bed last night. This morning she didn't seem herself so I gave her a little aspirin thinking that she might be sore (there is no limping and she took her walk fine etc) but now she has been vomiting after she eats. Is the aspirin upsetting her stomach? Need to know as I can't take her to the vet until tomorrow pm and I'm trying not to panic. She's a breeder rescue and I've only had her 9 months and it's been a slow go, she was a sick girl for awhile. Thanks Last edited by girlest; 04-16-2009 at 02:36 PM. |

Unfortunately the only one that can advise you if her upset stomach is caused by something else is the vet. If she seems very sick then I would bring her in to emergency

| If I were you I would call your nearest emergency vet and let them know what happened, that way they can give your their opinion on what you should do. Giving a dog aspirin can be toxic and that alone is probably reason enough to bring her in or at least call. Better safe than sorry.

YT Addict | I hope she is ok. aspirin is Ok but you can only give 5 mg per pound every 12 hours. I have a book I want to pass you every one It is the BEST!!! Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook You can get this book at Discount Pet Supplies, Pet Supply, Online Pet Supplies If she is still sick you can give her Pepto-Bismol 0.5-1.5 ml per pound. I hope this helps. Good luck. |

YT Addict | You will love this book and learn so much. I love being up on all the Med. needs of my dogs, and I keep a doggie Med. Cabinet at all times. You always need thing in the night or after hours. (yes I was the baseball mom that had the 1st aid kit at ever pratice) LOL Any way everyone that knows me calls me before they call the vet!! I am called the neighborhood vet. And everything comes from this book. (I even take my book in the vets office) He now ask me what is wrong and what meds. I think the dog needs and then he tells me if I am right or not. So for I have been right!!! You will love this book!! |

| Thanks for your reply and especially the book info. My vet said that the amount of aspirin I gave was fine but that it probably irritated her stomach. All dogs are different...she couldn't find any injury and now Lull La's eating again and even ran to the front door. These little ones can sure scare you....I ordered the book, thanks again for that information. It should quell future fears.. |
