| Lost Yorkie..in the pound..for adoption? I have created myself a quandry..maybe you guys can give me some insight as well. I habitually look at petfinder-I like to read the happy tails, etc. Well today, a yorkie popped up in my area. He is in the animal services in Springdale, AR (which is the pound) and his little picture..look at it below..breaks my heart. He doesn't look matted and neglected..he looks like he had been groomed at least in the last 6 weeks. So I called and spoke to the animal control officer and she said he had been there unclaimed for 5 days and they were putting him up for adoption today. She said he's very sweet, and if I didn't have little kids I could come and adopt him. I said, "I can't believe his momma isn't looking for him..he looks ok", she says "I know, right? and he's sweet too". I told her I have three yorkies already but I will talk to all my friends, etc. Before you all start yelling at me..as much as I would love to rescue this guy, I know my limitations...and it is three dogs..they are as much as I can have in the house, clean up after, and pay vet bills for. I feel it would be irresponsible for me to have 4 inside dogs. Anyway, I was talking to my son about it..he works at Arbys in a small town called Lowell which is only about 5 miles from Springdale and he said a lady had come into the Arbys looking for a lost male yorkie. He said he looked a little like Scout. I was like, "OMG Ben...this could be him and they are trying to adopt him out!" The lady had passed out flyers, but he said they took it down after a week. I called all the businesses in the same area to see if they still had the posters..they didn't. I went to the grocery and convenience stores looking for a flyer about him..looked online in lost classifieds..nothing. I would hope his family would be calling all the area shelters daily, but this was 2 or 3 weeks ago..maybe they gave up? My plan is to call the Lowell animal services tomorrow (they were closed when I tried to call today..only one officer..small community) to see if he knows anyone looking for a yorkie. Do you all think I should call Springdale back to tell them about someone looking for a yorkie, or let it go...I'm so tossed up!! My husband keeps telling me I can't save them all..but I would hope if I was in this situation someone would put 2 and 2 together....

| OMG! I can feel your diliema! Maybe you could post on Craigslist in your area. I would call the pound in Lowell and maybe even the police station and all vets in the area. Make your own flyers and put up at grocery stores and convenience stores stating that he is at the pound. Or you could have them contact you to be sure they are the legitimate owner trying to find their lost baby. How long will they keep him at the pound before PTS? He is cute and I'm sure he will get adopted. I hope this helps you. Keep us informed. |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Wow.....I'm with you. I would have to do all that I could if there is ANY way it could be the missing dog. He's just Adorable & very well groomed. Just breaks my heart! There are so many stories lately of YT members who have lost their babies. You could be the only link for this lady who is Frantic. At least, you would know that you did what you could. I can't imagine either what this must be like to go through.

| I would def. try to help this little guy. What if this is his mommy, think how happy you would be if someone connected you with your little ones. I would def. call tomorrow and tell them and try to find the lady that posted the ads. Even if it wasn't hers she may be a possible home for the little guy.

| My son said he would recognize the lady who lost her yorkie if she came through the drive through, so he's keeping any eye out. All his friends and people around that he knows are looking for flyers. I did call the only vet in Lowell and they did not have anyting on an un-chipped lost yorkie. Tomorrow I will be working on it again. I'm hoping I can get somewhere with the Lowell animal services. I will definetely update here!

| I will see if I can find out if there have been any Lost Yorkies posted to rescue sites in that area. This is very sad. I am sure he is someone's pet he looks for well taken care of and lonely in his little cage.

| I just sent and email about him and I will let you know if I hear anything. Maybe you should open the phone book and start calling groomers in the area. He looks like he has been groomed recently so maybe you will have some luck that way.

| Hi! Thanks for helping me. I tried calling groomers yesterday but the 3 that I know of in the city were not answering their phones. I will try them again today. There is only one vet's office...I go there and they are going to call me if they know anything. I will be working on it today. I don't have internet access to YT at work, but I will try to update from my iphone. Do you think I should call Springdale and tell them there was a missing yorkie in Lowell, or just keep working to find that family that lost the yorkie?

| Would they let you take him somewhere to see if he has a chip? That might help find his mommy.

YT 1000 Club Member | Why wouldn't the shelters/pounds have a chip reader? With all of the pets in those places you'd think they'd try to reunite some of them by seeing if they have chips.

| I have read a couple of different places that sometimes people forget to register the chip, and also not all machines read every chip, so that might not be accurate!! I sure hope he finds his family , he is awefully cute! |

| He does not have a chip- I asked. Update: I called the Lowell animal control and they were able to give me a number for the people that lost their yorkie. I called them and they said they found their yorkie! So the yorkie in Springdale is not him. I'm still calling all the vets, groomers, and pet places. Will update again. If there are spelling errors it's because my iphone does this predictive text I don't always catch.
