| Neutered But Still Humps and Marks! Logan is almost 2 years old. He was neutered last summer when he was about 10 months old. But he still humps his bear like there is no tomorrow, and when we go for walks, he stops and pees constantly as if he is marking. Why is he still doing these things? I can't tell any difference between his behavior from before he was neutered to after. Our last dog, a Maltese, did not do these things, but he was neutered at a slightly younger age. What's going on? |

| Had he already begun marking a lot BEFORE his neuter? Because, sometimes, if it goes on too long... it's hard to break even if they are neutered. Is he marking inside or just outside? Personally, I think it's just a male dog thing to do it outside and I don't think it's bad if they're doing it outside... As for the humping, Jackson humps his stuffed bear like CRAZY and he's not neutered yet but I have a feeling, the neuter won't change his humping LOL.

| Humping is a dominance thing. Has nothing with being neutered. As for marking, he may have doing it prior to his neuter. Hot Rod marks outdoors but not in the house. Thank goodness!

YT 3000 Club Member | chester was neutered at 6 months and he is 6 and a half now, he humps his stuffed bear but not people. They say they can hump out of boredom as well. Chester marks outside, alot of dog smells. My neighbors dog is a female and she pees everywhere out side as well. Chester will pee inside but I dont think its marking, he never does it on clothes, furniture or on the wall just in the middle of the room if he wants to be a butt head. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | I wonder if humping is truly about dominance, since it seems like a lot of yorkies here have taken teddy bears on as sex partners. My theory is that humping feels good, which is why dogs do it. However, it's not something a dog would do to a higher ranking pack member, which is where dominance comes in. Also, many domesticated animals try to breed with their caretakers, so I wonder if that's what motivates some dogs to try humping their owners, rather than as a dominance challenge.

| It is in a males nature to mark and hump. Sometimes neutering stops it and sometimes it dont. As long as he is just marking outside I dont see a problem. When he starts humping and you want him to stop tell him no and take away whatever he is humping

| While Genghis humps maybe less now than before he was neutered. The day after he was neutered was the first day he "marked" on MY bed! In general he has been great about going outside and before that on his pads. Since than he has peed 3 times on my bed. This is very annoying. This is the first puppy I've had neutered, and it was to stop or lessen the humping. I'm not sure I have gained anything from neutering Genghis except for a huge vet bill and more drycleaning. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Well....Roxie humps and she's definately not male and she was spay before her first heat. I agree with the fact that it's a dominence thing (she's the pack leader of the bear lol) and it must feel good to them. Of course she only does this to one stuffed animal and never to anyone or anything else. I put the bear up for awhile because I had to sew it's foot and she never humped anything else.

Because, for the most part, I'm very dominating over Jackson and we have practiced this quite often. He's very well trained for a 6 month old. So, I really don't think him humping his teddy bear is about trying to dominate me. He's NEVER tried to hump me, lol.
