| New Yorkie coming soon! Hello all, I am new to this website and have not yet purchased my Yorkie. I have found the breeder I will be purchasing from. I have a few question I thought you all may be able to help me with.. First do you al have any suggestions as far as a good food to feed them, also, any suggestions as far as housebreaking and how soon should I be taking her outside to use the bathroom?? Lastly, any suggestions as far as names, I am really considering Juicy or Chanel but open for suggestions. Thanks and hope to hear from you all soon! |

Firstly, everyone has their own opinions on the best dog food. I personally have been feeding Baxter Royal Canin, and I and Baxter both really love it. Once he gets old enough, they have it specific for Yorkshire Terrier. I am still housebreaking Baxter. I started off using pee pads, and this only confused him. I ultimately wanted him using the potty out doors, and I should have never used the pee pads. He is finally beginning to understand to go outside. A lot of people would suggest waiting to take your girl outside until she has had all of her shots. I took Baxter out before he had all of his and he was O.K. If you have your own yard, I wouldn't be too worried about taking her out early. Others will probably have better advice on this... And finally, I really think Chanel is a cute name. I also really like the name Bella... A lot of people here have girlie's named Bella. Good luck with your new baby!

| Please do not feed a food over 24 or 26% protein. It is hard on the liver and kidneys. Royal Canin is 28% protein. Some dogs have had high bile acid results that went to normal after being taken off this food. California Naturals is really good and I have been very happy with it. My show coats look great, no one is over or underweight and all are healthy. Solid Gold is also good as are several others such as Eagle Pack. I try to stay away from corn and byproducts. It is not necessary to feed a puppy formula. Most are too high in protein and fat and can lead to accelerated growth rates. This can cause problems with joints. All my puppies eat the all life stages food and they have very strong bones and joints. ruth |
