| Can I get it?! Ok, so my mom is really sick with the flu and I drop my baby off every morning. I'm told that's ok b/c dogs can't catch what humans have, however can the germs stay on their coats and then transfer to me and then I will get sick??? Which leads me to my next question. How often do you bath your baby? Once or twice a week? Thanks in advance!

| Not to scare you, but bacteria and viruses can stay alive for hours on practically anything! If you have been in the same house opening doorknobs, touching the walls, and with her coughing or sneezing, you already have been exposed! I would just keep up with the hand washing and keep your immune system up. Best wishes, (washing my hands,,, washing my hands) About the washing of my babies, maybe twice a month. |

From what the vets I worked with said, humans really cant get something from dogs, however, i sorta disagree and agree with that. But, If you are that concerned, I'd give him a bath. I only bathe fiona like once every two weeks, since i dont want to over do it, and get her all dried out and whatnot. good luck!

YT 1000 Club Member | In the summer I bathe Roxie about once a week if I get around to it. I wondered weather or not Roxie could pass flu on to someone else too. I'm not sure about that either. When I had it I just didn't let her lick me. I wonder if there's something in their saliva that would kill it? She even had a few days of not feeling well and not sure what that was all about. She's fine now though. That good ole flu is pretty much air born as well as on all surfaces. There is some stuff you can get at the drug store to start taking with in so many hours of exposure or symptoms. It helps lessen the duration and symptoms. It's called Ziacam I think. Good luck I hope you don't get sick. I had it for about 3 weeks and it's pretty miserable. |

| I agree with lil fu fu girl, if you've been in her house, you've been exposed. I think the chances of you getting sick are greater from simply being in the home and touching the surfaces ie: doorknobs, refrigerator, chairs, etc...then from touching Bailey. And some strains of diarrhea are transferable from us to them and from them to us. Also, I have gotten poison ivy from my dog, from the oils being on their coat and me touching them. And of course, I catch heck from them all the time. "Open the door, let us out! Open the door, let us in! Open the cookie jar! Food/Water bowls low! Walkies! Park!" Sure hope your mom gets to feeling better soon. They flu is so yucky!!

| Thank you all very much for the well wishes and for the advice! I've never seen my mom so sick before. In fact, Bailey is the least closest to her but is glued to her side.
