| Stressed Puppy? My Max is around 7 weeks old now and has had a few accidents. for the most part though he is pretty good about going to the bathroom outside his kennel and on the puppy pad (when we can move him in time). His schedule is as follows... 5 or 5:30 - boyfriend wakes up with him to let him eat, poop, pee then he is back in kennel until i wake up at 7 or 7:30 for him to play and potty again. i come home around 11 or 11:30 to feed him again and let him go potty. then it's back home at 5 to let him out to potty and play then he eats again around 6 or 6:30 then potty again. this is the same routine every day. he has been doing very well...sunday (which was completely my fault ~ new owner mistake) i had to leave the house before his feeding time and i was only going to be gone a couple hours and be back...so i left some dry food (just a little) in his kennel so he wouldnt starve...he ended up pooping in his kennel...not much and it was on the towels in there...everything seemed ok. i've started to take him outside to do his business to try to train him to go outside instead of the puppy pad indoors. well yesterday the same routine went on and everything seemed fine. i went home around 12 and fed him and he pooped and peed....when Chris (my boyfriend) came home he found max in his kennel with poop everywhere...all over his body, all over the kennel like he had been trying to claw his way out...i felt like the worst mommy ever!!! while chris was cleaning him off Max threw up on him (he said it looked like mucus) then he took max out to potty and he had diarrhea...i am so nervous! what do i do? I'm not sure if he had diarrhea and that's what made him poop in his kennel or if pooping in his kennel stressed him out so bad that he had diarrhea and volmitting. normally after he eats he poops pretty quickly...well since this incident he doesnt poop like he normally does. after he ate yesterday at 6 he wouldnt go...i tried to make him go but no luck...last night around 11 he started whining and i normally dont let him out but since he hadnt pooped i went and let him do his thing and he did and it came out normal...not diarrhea...but this morning he wouldnt go either...can anyone help??? |

YT 1000 Club Member | He's only 7 weeks old? That's very young for him to be away from his mother. Doesn't even sound old enough to be weaned yet. Has he been vet checked, dewormed or any of those things? What kind of food is he eating? I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice here on what to do. First thing I think you should do is talk to the vet since he's so young. He can dehydrate and have low blood sugar very quickly. |

| Personally, I think expecting a 7 week old to not poo and pee in the kennel is not reality. It will come to him in time! You are not a bad mom.. just clean him up and give him tons of kisses! How old was this puppy when you got him?

| it's not that i expect him to not poop or pee in the kennel...i just want to make sure nothing's wrong. like i said, i'm a first time momma and want to make sure my little max is healthy! I got him out of the paper and unfortunately it turned out to be a shady deal. he was about 5 weeks when i got him...even though she told me he was 6. the breeder (who actually wasnt a breeder her dog just got pregnant by her sister's dog) told me that he had gotten his shots and was 6 weeks old and was eating wet eukanuba puppy food. i went in to petco to get him some stuff and he was with me...the people there said he needed to be on milk...so i tried to feed him that and he wouldnt take it. to prevent low blood sugar i was feeding him sugar water. the next morning i took him to the vet and he checked him out and told me that he was about 5 weeks, no worms, and otherwise good health. he had to be tube fed for a couple of days. after a couple of days i gave him wet puppy food and he chowed down and did a complete 180...before he was limp and lethargic but after he ate this he was walking better, more active and wonderful. I did call the vet after i found out and he said that he should be ok, but i wanted to talk with people on here as well as i dont always know the right questions to ask my vet since i am new. He has been drinking plenty of water and i also have nutrical for him. thanks for your help. |

| at that age, puppies can go downhill so fast. I would get him back to the vet asap.

| He is very young and he could have been stressed and I think that could have cause the diahrea but he was also sick if he was vomiting also. He also couldnt control where he went potty when he had the diahrea
