| OMG Luigi eats everything!!! He is driving me and my DH crazy. Every piece of lint and string he finds. He has chewed all the wiring to our TV and Stereo surround sound. My husband removed all the speakers and wires ( even the ones that came up through the floor to the speakers, needless to say no more surround sound. We blocked off the back of the couch (we flipped over the couch to make sure there was nothing under there for him to get to) but when we put up the foot rest on the recliner back he goes. He chews the kids toys and books, the corners of furniture. He has torn apart and eaten a pen tip, a few pacifiers, odd and assorted tissues, paper he has pulled out of my computer desk. And the sad part is I pick up constantly so he can't get things and when he does get something I am running after him to get it away from him. Oh and he will wait till I leave the room then go onto the couch, then the coffee or end table and grab things (even though he knows hes not allowed on the tables) HELP |

| My 16 mo. old does the same thing. We had to put him in a designated area when we leave the house. He has chewed every door stop, and not only chewed, but eats the entire rubber part. The other day I found him chewing happily and eating a plastic comb. The majority of the teeth on the comb were gone. I don't understand it, but when he chewed my kitchen cabinet in the corner, I said that's it, when we leave he stays in his play area. |

| Yup ... unfortunately you're going to have to get used to it If it hits the floor they have to explore chew and then eat it I think it's in the Yorkie rule book somewhere But you can train them to drop it Or what I do is train them to freeze so you can grab them and see what they have in their mouths

| Preachin' to the Choir.. I'm so glad you posted this, as I'm also looking for answers to this situation, myself...I don't believe swattin' them for anything, except life and death situations...The ONLY time I swatted Apple was for chewing on electrical cords, and she has never done it again...I used a couple of sheets of newspaper, rolled up, but it worked...However, I almost hate taking her out in the back-yard, as she picks up every little leaf, twig or branch, and proceeds to chew on it...I've combed my back yard for anything that might be harmful to her....I've always let other puppies do this, in the past, but they were larger breeds, and I wasn't concerned about intestinal blockage, etc...Sooooooooo, I'm off work today, and I'm going to sit back and check this site, periodically, to see what some of the seasoned veterans have to say....Thanks for posting, and all the best to you, and the rest of us that are bumfuddled about this Maggie & Apple xox |

| lol.. I have'nt been able to put the recliner out in my couch since we got Lucky. Hubby made stops so he could'nt go behind the couch or loveseat. Of course he wants to get on the back of the couch and throw his toys behind it which is a real pain to get out. Then he whines until we get them. It's all worth it though. hehehe.

| I agree they are worth the craziness. I keep telling him he is lucky he is so damn cute. I don't remember Bella eating everything. I remember a few things when she was Luigis age (5 1/2 months). But he eats everything. I am just so afraid he is going to eat something that will get stuck. |

| Baxter's latest thing was bunny poop. We have 2 wild rabbits living in the back yard and he found their droppings. Now I have to watch for that! He eats any and every thing. |

| I would suggest leave it exercises, I've started this with teddy and its working well. Start by putting treats Inyour hand and everytine they move away click of you use a clicker and. Give them a treat then move on to putting them on the flor and eventually they will learn leave it my puppy ttrainer also suggested using toys and paper so they know toleave everything. |

YT Addict | Yeah My new little one does the same thing. we are taking things from him all the time. I just take the thing he not supposed to have and give him something he can chew...it seems to work for a few minutes anyway. I am going today or tomorrow and buying him more toys he can chew... |

| My Vacum Cleaners I have had the same issues. You have to puppy proof like you would baby proof your home. When mine are out of our play area (my bedroom) I watch them like hawks! I still find chewed wires and they are always chewing on things! They find what my vacuum and broom miss. I think it is just their way. We have to vacuum everyday,,,sweep and mop every day...Maybe they just want a clean house

| I play the "trade" game with Katy. Sophie will stand still and give stuff up. Katy is the problem with chewing up leaves, sticks, etc. and I'm hoping she will outgrow it. One time she vomited up straw, a small ball of toy stuffing, and a piece of stick about 2 1/2 inches long all at the same time. We have to watch her closely indoors and out. Baby Sophie is the most cooperative of the two pups. |
