| Need advice I was having a friend sit Suki and now she is no longer to have a dog where she lives. I am searching for a in home sitter to walk my girl on the nights that I have class and I will let her out for a quick pee at lunch. I just need some advice on how to not freak out about all of this and how to find a good sitter. I am so protective of her, she is part of my family |

| Wish we lived closer, I'd be glad to help. I'll bump this so that maybe someone else will see and have suggestions.

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | How old is Suki? IMO, if she's older than 16 or so weeks and does well with her potty training, she should be just fine on her own for several hours. That being said, I still do no like to leave mine for more than 4 hrs (if I had a choice), and only VERY occasionally is she by herself for 8 hrs (or just a tiny bit more). I work and my bf is in school, so thankfully I don't have to leave her completely alone all day. There have been a few times when she has been alone all day, though, and she has done just fine. So, I understand your worry...completely (I'm one of those that worry if I leave food/treats/even toys with her she could choke or something else terrible could happen)....but it isn't very practical to NEVER leave her alone (although that's what I wish I could do)! Most dog owners DO work all day and can't even come home at lunch, so you are not alone!! Even if she isn't really great with potty training yet, there are options for you! Now, if she is < 16 weeks or so, or if she is being left for a really long time (>8-ish hrs) you may want to find someone VERY RESPONSIBLE to doggie-sit....I just don't like babies left alone for too terribly long (although I still think ~ 4 hours is ok unless they are VERY young). (IMO, take it or leave it, I would rather leave my baby alone a little longer than I'd like than to have someone else take care of her, unless it's absolutely unavoidable. I have learned that NO ONE, not even family, takes care of MY "things" the way I do, and I have always worried that if someone were watching my Bella, they would be neglectful in some very small way and something really bad would happen....probably wouldn't, but I just like to avoid that situation if I can. Sad to say that I trust her being okay on her own for awhile over trusting her care in the hands of a human being.)

| I found someone! My best friend who has a dog is going to come over on my long school night (mondays) and let her out. I am so glad too bc I know that he knows how to take care of dogs. And he doesn't live that far away. Thank you all. Suki will be one on march 17th. and she does really well with holding her pee, but I just don't think it's fair to make her hold it for so long and she is so small. now I just have to see how she does on wednesday. She will be there for a max of 7/5 hours. usually my class gets out early so prob less than that. |
