| I Can't Believe... how many people post to this forum with medical problems when they should FIRST call their vet. Does anyone else feel this way? |

| I always thought the same thing...I can see the minor things but when the poor thing is choking or having seizures, I can't but help thinking.... "Why are you on the computer!"

| # 1 its panic, but I believe its more of a financial thing. No one lilkes vet bills. They get astronomical. people usually are hoping that they can avoid vets by someone giving them a quick fix they can do at home. Also no one wants vet fees for somthing that they could have taken care of on their own. (though Im not saying this is what I do or agree with it, just what I think is happening) I think there are lots of unexperienced pet owners out there. more than experienced owners. HOWEVER, I do agree that there are lots of cases where you really need to use common sense and recognise when its an emergency.

| yes i see your point BUT many times, as you can read in alot of the posts it is after vet hours...ER vet doesnt consider it an extreme emergency or the line is busy(i have this prob wit my vet quite often)...Alot of people are new yorkie parents and may not kno the signs of something that is very serious or maybe they think they are making a big deal out of something that is nothing because they are paranoid about their new baby...there are many reasons they could be on the computer instead of calling the vet....i hope this doesnt discourage people from posting about their ill baby and something hapen to them when the advice of the people of YT could have helped avoid it

| thats why you have be responsible and think about it. if you cant afford everything they need. including vet bills, then your not ready for one.. this is all part of owning a pet. taking care of it is number one!!

people of all walks of life have dogs, that wont change. All we can do is share the knowledge we have to help others. Thats what boards like this are for.
