My puppy also had very fine hair. I have read that the fine haired puppies usually develop into the prettiest silky coats. They were right. His hair started getting thicker by the time he was 7 months. Now, he is almost a year and he has a beautiful silky coat. Karen

SOunds like a nice coat to me, my Duke has gorgeous super shiney thinner silky coat, and it doesnt tangle easy. As a puppy though he was a complete puffball and if I didnt know his parents had silky coats I would have thought he would have been almost a wooly.

Coats My boys although from the same breeder have totally different coats and they are within a month of each other age wise. Bengie is long and silky, very straight and parts naturally on the back. Garrett has a silky straight coat on the front half of his body, but the butt half is curly and thicker, not straight, I think there are as many types of coats as yorkies.
