Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Bengi barks at me when I'm leaving :( I don't know when it started, not a long time ago. When I was working he wouldn't bark when I left for work because he new it was the usual. Then he wouldn't bark when he saw me change my clothes and spend some time in the bathroom getting ready because he kinda knew it's for church or something already planned. What he doesn't like is when I leave for no reason (at least for him). Like when I have to run errands and stuff. And now that I'm at home, he gets mad each time I leave!!! When he sees I'm putting on my shoes he starts searching for my face to see if I tell him that he's coming as well, then when I'm approaching the door, he tries to sneak out, and then when I tell him no, stay, stay back, he gets maaaad and barks at me! I don't know what to do! does this happen to anybody? |

| It's hard, but like you, I try to avoid eye contact.

| Rocky has the worst case of Separation Anxiety which is what i believe it's called. Once i have my coat on he goes and lays in front of the door when i grab the handle to open it he goes nuts! He barks uncontrolably and he will even try and bite my pant if he can. I dont look him in the eye i give him my back and that dosent work. I tried a water bottle and spraying him but what am i doing with the water bottle taking it with me ? that didnt last long I also tried putting coins in a empty can and rattling it again im not going to put a can with coins in my purse with me besides he still barked. 2 days ago i noticed when i was leaving he was his usual self and barked at me i live in a apt building we have a doorbell right on the door. So when i closed the door i rang the bell once and i noticed he stopped barking. So i dont know if that's a trick that works but for now im content. I would like to find something that i can do so that i dont have to go through a obstacle course when i need to go somewhere where i cant take him.

| It happens to me a lot...and since Pao was a pup, he has separation anxiety other than that he is a perfect dog. Now I just practice the no touch, no talk, no eye contact, 15 minutes before leaving the house and I ask hubby to do the same. Its hard coz he sits on my leg while I am trying to change or just jumping all over me asking to be picked up so that he can come along. When I do bring him out, I usually change him into outdoor clothing and carry him in to the car so he knows once I don't pick him up, he doesn't get to go and boy oh boy he doesn't like not getting to go out with us or being left home alone. Also, I am home a lot so it doesn't help when I need to go out just for a little while.
