| First Time Yorkie Dad I got Bruiser just a few months ago, LOVE HIM TO BITS, that's not the issue, the issue is, or question: Can I brush his teeth? how often? and what type of tooth brush? soft, medium bristle? I take him to the vet for a check up in three months, living in a remote village in Alaska, I want to make sure his general health is being taken care of as well as mine. any input would be greatly appreciated! | Welcome! Yes, you can and should brush his teeth. I use Petzlife. I brush their teeth one or two times a week using a q-tip.

| Dental is important to their overall health. Get him used to brushing @ a young age. Their are many pastes and brushes available. You have to find out what he likes.

| The vets encourage us to brush their teeth, so go ahead and do it as often as you can. My lil' guy fights me when I try, so I have a gel that I squeeze into his mouth daily, as well as use a solution that you can put in their water bowl. They help keep plaque under control.

| I started brushing my 11 month old yorkies daily about 2 months ago it used to be a struggle at first.....but I flip them on their backs open their mouths and brush.....today for the first time my boy (the difficult one) saw me with the toothbrush and he rolled onto his back to get it done.....I could not believe it.....I put the stuff in the water too and tried Leba II spray.....but I don't think they work like brushing the teeth that is why I started the daily routine.....

| Hey! Welcome to YT!!! You need to talk to Mike (user name Alaskayorkie) You guys have lots in common I use a plain piece of guaze on my finger to brush teeth. I only brush one of mine because the other doesn't need it but I have found that works best for Ryder's tiny mouth. Good luck they don't usually like it much!
