new yorkie how to introduce him? We bought a yorkie during the summer, he is now 8 months old. He has been such a joy that we just purchased another one and he'll be coming home in Feb. Is there a good way to introduce them to one another?

| I only have one furbaby, so really cannot give any advice. There are plenty of people that can help you with this, though. However, I did want to say, Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk!

thanks, we are very excited. My husband who has NEVER liked dogs in the house (he grew up in the country) fell in love with our little one, Samson. He is the one who actually thought Samson needed a playmate, so I was surprised and very happy. I don't think I will have any problems introducing them, Sam seems to love other dogs but I also want to do this right.

Dogs know puppies, there is usually no introduction required, just supervision. the fact that your other one is still young is a plus, they should enjoy playing together. I recently brought a new one home and he slept with my 1 year old the very first night. It's different than indroducing two adult dogs. Be sure the first dog still gets his space on your lap or jealousy could become a problem.

I have always introduced the new ones all the same way, and that includes with my adult dogs(the oldest ones are 11, 6 and 3 1/2) and when I brought the newest one home, I just put the new one on the floor and let them all smell eachother. Within about an hour, the 11 year old was doing her thing for the little one to play with her. None of my dogs bite or have ever bitten the little ones, and have always been very well socialized. Your two will have a blast together.
