| Female in Heat and Aggression I have an 11 month old female that was supposed to be spayed Jan 7th, but went into heat last week...I also have an 8 month old male that was neutered last month and my daughter is visiting with her 6 month old male that is also neutered. These puppies have all previously gotten along well, with my little female only occasionally showing signs of jealousy when I would walk in holding my male. She is only 3.3 lbs and he is almost 6 lbs. When she has acted jealous in the past, she would growl and nip at him and it would only last a few seconds....well, in the last few days she has started to show much more aggression towards both of these males, especially towards my daughters little male that is closer to her size. Last night she really went after him and made him cry for longer than I have ever had any of them cry. There was not any serious damage, no blood, etc., and he is a little bit of a baby, but is this aggression due to her being in heat or is this due to her growing jealousy of other dogs? I have had to separate them this morning because when she first woke up and saw them, she started growling and snarling at them like she wanted to kill them both! HELP! Any suggestions at this point will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!My daughter has been here for 10 days and will be here for about 5 more days. These little males are the sweetest things together and normally she is, too! I don't know how to handle this. |

| The aggression come from her being in heat . I have one that is a wild tiger when in heat . You'll have to seperate her from the others . |

| Thank you so much for replying. I was so afraid that this behavior might continue. Will it stop as soon as she is out of heat? She is into her 2nd week. How long does this aggression usually last? It has me worried to death! Thank you. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Roxie went into heat a few days before her spay was scheduled and she was definitley more grumpy and picking on one of my other females. She also wanted to be left alone and was sleepier.

| This is her 10th day in heat and her personality change is unbelievable. We have a 75 lb German Shepherd that I think is scared of her this morning! She is like a different dog!!!! I sure wish I would have scheduled that spay two weeks earlier! |

| Maggie was the same way. The aggression calmed down 3/4 of the way through her heat but I didn't see a real difference until after her spay. Before the surgery, she was sleepy all the time and not playful. Now she is the happiest I have ever seen her! She runs and plays with other dogs at the dog park (something she NEVER did) and her and Franklin wrestle and play every single day. It's been an incredible change. Good luck!

| Thanks for all of your replies. Lola has always been the sweetest, happiest dog. She is so tiny and fragile - this came on so unexpected. I guess we will just try to get through the next 10 days and reschedule her spay for a week or so after...and then worry to death about that! It is always something to worry about with these babies. I am just glad to know that I will get my old Lola back. |
