| My Poor Baby, He should have stayed home today!! And judging by the looks of him right now, he felt the same way!! We go to the Bay Area EVERY Saturday, and I always bring Gucci with us, since we will be gone for a large chunk of the day. He NEVER has any problems in the car.. BUT today he did If you have any suggestions for me after reading , feel free to offer them for the future. See I fed him about 30 minutes before we left and I think I should have fed him earlier and he should have eaten slower the little fatty .. He got Car Sickness, vomited twice and peed in his carrier on the way there the drive was about 1.5 hours. Luckily, I had brought extra stuff and remade the bed for him. He had his brand new Sherpa sweater dirty, vomit on his chin that I wiped off and pee pee on his little feet from where he turned around and stepped on it. I cleaned everything and put him back in his carrier where he just looked upset!! I don't blame him at all.. He looked bummed the rest of the trip and normally he enjoys it. I was so sad for him, he had a look that said "I Should Have Just Stayed at Home." My Precious had to stay kinda icky all day and was just not feeling well. As if that wasn't enough he was on an empty tank since he vomited his food and the vet said not to give him anymore till we got home. They had said for me to walk over to walgreens and get him some dramamine (sp?) and give it to him so he'd be ok on the way home. Needless to say we are here now and he has had a bath and slipped into some clean PJ's .. he looks so content.. he crawled into his clean carrier with fresh Sherpa and Blankies all by himself and laid down with some toys. What do you guys do to prevent Car Sickness??? thanks for reading too |

| Aaaw. He is such a cutie pie. My Bella gets car sickness too. I don't give her anything to eat for about 2hrs before we leave (except a little peanut butter) and give her 1 Cerenia. I get the from the vet and they have worked really well for her. I hope this helps.

| He's lookin Fantabulous compared to earlier today, but I agree you can still see that expression on his face that tells you he isn't all the way back to feeling great yet... I think I'm gonna let him just rest a few hours so he can let his world settle |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Sure hope little Gucci recovers quickly! I have had this happen with one of my show dogs if feed to close to the time we left in the car. I had to make sure there was at least an hour in between and if could not do that I found it better to wait until we arrived where we were going. I know people that use the dramamine product that is made with meclizine - I think it is the non drowsy version. But you would want to find out how much your vet recommends based on his size. Do you think that he might just have a little tummy upset today? If he is still not feeling well, it may not have been car sickness. Hugs and kisses to Gucci from my bunch!

| OMG ... how adorable is he??? My little one has been car sick a few times too. Poor babies, I hate it when she is sick. Especially last night since she "murped" all over my arm and leather Brighton bag in the car last night! You know just how much you love them when the can murp on you and you just hold them closer, breath and all! Hugs to your little man.

| Poor little guy. But he still looks so adorable in his cozy pj's and snuggled up with his toys... Chloe never really gets car sick , but Sydney does. I have to make sure she hasn't eaten at all before we go on a long trip ( 6 hours or more) and the vet did prescribe her medicine when none of the holistic things we tried worked. When we go on a short trip she eats at least two hours before we go. She has gotten alot better as she got older. Now we only really have to worry if it's a long trip.

| If it's any comfort, I've known a lot of folks whose dogs were prone to carsickness as pups but outgrew the problem as they got older. Hopefully this is only a phase, and he'll be a little road warrior soon enough. My dog occasionally gets carsick-- three times this past year that I can remember. It happened more often when she was a puppy. Given the infrequency of the problem, I've chosen not to medicate for it-- I just make sure to carry a towel and a bottle of spray fabric cleaner in the trunk for the rare times that it happens.

| Ooooo I remember those puky days with mine...I tried ginger snap cookies and then the vet gave me some pills (can't remember what it was) to stop the throwing up but he hates the pill...So we tried a few things last time..we fed him 2 hours before but I remember he still didn't do very well in the car, open the window so that he gets fresh air...then we try to limit his car rides to just 10-15 mins so that he can grow accustomed to it. Now he is 2.5 yrs old and is doing way better in the car. The problem with mine is he never stops moving in the car and I bet it makes him feel dizzy and throwing up is inevitable. I think some dogs do grow out of it after the puppy stage..just try to make short trips to let them get used to it.
