| Help!! My yorkie puppy is shedding fuzz everywhere..do they shed their puppy coat?? Hi Everyone! Im new here and a new yorkie owner! I've had my little yorkie for about 2 weeks now. Her name is Stella, and she is 10 weeks old and absolutely precious!! However, I do have a question if any of you may be able to answer it. I know yorkies are not supposed to shed, we had 2 when I was growing up many years ago, and I dont ever remember them shedding, however Stella is shedding little black fuzz everywhere, like if I pick her up, it gets all over my clothes, Im finding it here and there in the kitchen and in her bed. This is really upsetting me because I particularly like the idea that they dont shed and took that into consideration before purchasing her. Do they shed their puppy coat or something?? She is full blooded and ckc registered so I know its not that shes mixed with another breed. I would so greatly appreciate any advice any of you can share with me, as Im at my wits end with all the fuzzies!! Thanks so very much!! |

| No, yorkies dont shed their puppy coats. Is she healthy otherwise? Maybe somewhere along the line someone was mixed with another breed and it's just now showing up in here. Her grandparents or great grandparents could have been mixed and they just skipped her parents generations. Do you have a picture to show? I'm sure she's adorable!!

| When I comb Missy I get a few little fuzzies out of her, but she's not shedding them all over.

| Yorkies don't shed and at only 10 weeks old, she is too young to be getting her adult coat anyway. Has she been to your vet for a complete check up? Does she scratch? You need to make sure there isn't a physical reason why she is loosing her hair. CKC (Continental Kennel Club) is one of the "alternative" registries that was formed when the AKC adopted stricter rules and started requiring DNA testing. Papers from any of the alternative registries are no guarantee that a puppy is purebred. All the CKC requires to register a dog (besides $12) is the signature of two witnesses stating that the dog is purebred and a couple of photographs. Witnesses do not have to be experts or vets, they can be your next store neighbor or your Uncle Harry. |

| Some Yorkie puppies do shed until they get there adult coats. But that seems like a lot of shedding. I would have a fecal done if you haven't already. Has she been through some kind of stress? What do you feed her? |

| Thanks to all of for your posts. She doesnt scratch and I have taken her to the vet for a complete check up and he said she looks great. Her coat is beautiful, shiny and full, shes just a little fluff ball, she hasnt been through any stress as far as I know. Shes spunky and frisky and happy. Shes eating Purina Beneful dry puppy food, so I dont know what is causing the shedding, its not like tons or wads of fur, its just like several pieces on my shirt after I pick her up.....and its little fuzzies not long pieces of hair or anything. From what I could tell she came from a reputable breeder, so Im hoping that shes full blooded although shes only ckc registered. Thanks again for your posts!! | Purina Beneful is horrible food. That could be the problem right there. Pet food from the grocery store is made from the waste from the human food industries, the not-fit-for-human-consumption by products. Please read this article to find out what is really in your pet food: Get The Facts Read this sticky to find a better quality food for Stella. I bet you will see a huge improvement in her coat: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html |

| Hi everyone, I just wanted to update on Stella's shedding issue. I took her to a local groomer that specializes in small breeds. She said that shes definitly full blooded and that its not uncommon for yorkies to shed as puppies. She said some do more than others. She brushed her out really good, and got out gobs of puppy fuzz, when she finished, I couldnt believe how different Stella looked!! Her coat is gorgeous and she has pretty much stopped the shedding, Ive been brushing her everyday since. So if anyone else ever has this problem, just give them a really good brushing until they get all of that puppy hair out!! |

| Both mine has shed bits of black puppy fuzz. It was mostly noticable on their little beds. My older puppy now has her fine, silky adult coat and never sheds now and the younger has had most of her puppy coat cut down until her adult coat comes in. I don't think that it is unusual for them to shed some puppy hair. |
