I'm just curious what age/stage everyone felt was the toughest on us yorkie parents. I just wonder if I'm still in for trouble or if it gets easier from here! Mine is 5 months.

My dog is still a puppy. He is ten months old. He was potty trained at five months and knew basic commands. However, last month he started popping off his pad and on my carpet. Now he is pottying on his pad again. Last month was the hardest for me (nine months).

Gus is still mischievous, and looks to me to keep him challenged. He is always looking for something to chew, and I can't let him out of my sight. I thought neutering would settle him down, but I didn't notice any change from before to after. Still working on housebreaking. It's probably my fault. I thought I'd be a great trainer, and although I spend lots of time with him, I still think it's my lack of skill. We went to PetsMart puppy training, and we did learn what they taught us. I wouldn't trade him for anything. He's my buddy.

I don't know...I think every month has been hard. One week I feel like Cassi is making progress and then the next week she poops on the rug. *arrrggghhhhh*

She's now 10 months old and am not sure when I could get her completely 100% potty trained. As far as tricks...she knows alot!! She's a smart girl...but just can't seem to get the most important thing down...which is going potty in the right place. *sigh* I still have my work cut out for me.

The first year was definitely the hardest. However, Sophie is 7 and still poops in the house occasionally--sometimes because it is wet outside

and other times because she has an upset stomach, which is about every couple months.

Definitely 6 months to 1 year old.

The same for me as well. I feel your pain! It's like it takes him 30 minutes to learn a new trick, why can't he be 100% potty trained. LOL!

Since mine is just 5 months old, I'm not sure which age is the hardest. I've loved having him despite all of the housbreaking mishaps.

I would say up until a year. If he is 5 months you still have teething ahead of you and some dogs chew A LOT!!! But it's so funny when they loose all their teeth! And Layla was up 3 times a night until she was 8 months- and had separation anxiety when I left the house until she was a year... but since then its been smooth sailing!

I got Joey at 3 months and so the first three months were the hardest for both of us, potty training, learning not to step on him, teaching him not to chew. By the time he was 6 months, I could see light at the end of the tunnel.

You made me laugh when you said that you had to learn not to step on him. I had to learn not to step on my Yorkie too.

For me I thought the first few months I had Daizy were hard....with potty training and her chewing on our wood work....however she's 10 months old and she can go a week or two accident free then we go to my sisters house and she'll have 3 accidents in a row! So that's totally frustrating...But when I pick her up to ask her "why, did you peepee???"....as she squints and blinks furiously at me....looking as innocent as possible......I can't help but kiss her sweet little face off........so am I giving her mixed signals?? lol I'm hopeless....and maybe so is she!....lol

But she's my precious wittle pisspot!! lol

Good question! I would agree, definitely the first year. You've got the potty training, the chewing, the barking, the energy. After a year, for Eddie at least, he mellowed out and had learned the most important skills.

definitely the first year! potty training, chewing, etc but as they get older, since i have 4, i still have problems here and there. Yorkies are like kids, none are perfect

but they are all just as sweet as can be!

My first one was a dream, ive never had a day's problem with her, she was a breeze to potty train, never got into the bad stuff.
My second was a hand full till about 18 months, she got into everything, and anything, couldnt leave her unattended for 2 minutes.

The age difference between the two is 3 months.
