New owner of Yorkies I have been browsing this site for a while now....I have always loved yorkies (as well as English Bulldogs). Quite a difference! Anyway, I am now the owner of 2 Yorkie's. Both are rescues. My female is Lucky. She was standing in the middle of the road (in the dark) one morning on my way to work. We stopped and she ran over to my car. Went in search of her owners. We found her owner, a neighbor of ours. She bluntly told us (me and my 2 kids) that if we wanted the *&!@ dog, we could have her. She no longer wanted her and was tired of dealing with her running away everytime she let her out to potty. She had basically put Lucky outside to survive on her own. I could not believe it! Lucky was a mess. Underweight, her coat was a mess, she smelled horrible, infested with fleas, you name it. I have had Lucky now for about 2 - 3 months. She is wonderful. I could not ask for a better dog. She is almost human! She will "talk" to us if we ignore her. I have never owned a dog with such a personality! She was scared of my 2 english bulldogs. She wanted to play with them but their size scared her. So, I posted a ad on craigslist stating that I was looking for a neutered male to be playmates with my spayed female. I had several people contact me with yorkies needing to be rehomed with adoption fees of $300 - $1200. I gave up my search. Last week, a lady contacted me with a male yorkie needing a home. We emailed back and forth all week, sending pictures, answering questions, etc. We finally talked on the phone. I agreed to meet her Saturday. She emailed me late Friday afternoon and told me that she felt in her heart and gut that he was meant to live with us and she would GIVE him to my family. The peace of mind of him having a good home was by far more important than money. So, I now have a wonderul male yorkie named Ramzy who is 1 year old. He is wonderful. It as if he has always been a part of our family. My 2 Bulldogs love him as does Lucky. The bulldogs are both females (both spayed). One is 7 years old, the other is 2 years old. I was concerned about adding another dog to the family, that is why I choose to add a male. It is very entertaining around my house now to say the least! I love it! I am going to try to add pictures.... PS - I love this site...very informative for us newbie yorkie owners!

Here's a picture of Ramzy. I don't have a good one of Lucky. Ramzy is a "teapot". He weighs in about 12-13 lbs. Lucky is about 8 pounds. Both are quick as lightening and so very funny. Ramzy has the softest hair! It is a silver/blue with tan. Lucky is more black/tan. I can't believe I waited this long in my life to own a yorkie! They amaze me every day! Lucky was orginally named Lady. She did not know her name so we changed it to Lucky. My best friend says that Lucky thinks we ran over her and she has gone to heaven. It is almost like she is grateful that we found and rescued her. Ramzy had a wonderful, loving, home with great people. They were moving and could not take him with them. They gave him to me along with his suitcase of clothes, toys, crate, bed, shot records, paperwork and everything! I was truly blessed to get him....and Lucky.

That is an amazing story! I hope the same happens for me.. I'm going to see a Yorkie today and the person put up and ad the first time saying they just want a good home for him and the second one the adoption fee is $650! It's not like I can't afford it but my dad would never let me pay that much for a dog. By the way, your lil guy is soooo cute!! Vanessa
