| Need help asap! New Yorkie is not getting along. Hey guys, Well I got Drake today. He is so so tiny and weighs a little less than 5 pounds. I brought him in, and right away, he went after Buddy who weighs double his weight. We did the intro slowly on leashes, and they were sniffing each other out, and that was ok, but then Drake dripped a little pee, which I expected cuz he is nervous. Then when Buddy saw that, buddy took a HUGE leak on my bedroom floor. I don't know if he did that cuz he was nervous too. So now I set up a nice clean area with food, crate, pup pads, toys, blankets, etc in out bathroom for Drake, but I don't and can't keep in in there. Help how do I get them to get along!!!???? I am happy I got him, but upset because I don't want to have to have him go. ADVICE PLEASE!!!!

| Patience! They are going to have to get used to one another. I would suggest taking them for walks together and introduce them slowly to each other. They say it's best to have them meet in a more neutral setting like the yard or outside, but of course you have already introduced them, but just take it slow. Good luck!

| Awww, jealously already? It's just gonna take time and patience. I have 5, and they just have to adjust to a new baby being around. Maybe try to keep them seperated when you're not with them; and always show Buddy attention first, first treat, first toy, etc. Before you now it, they'll be best buds. Btw, have they both been neutered? If not, based on experience, that will work wonders. Good luck!

| I am not an expert but maybe you could get a playpen for the new baby so that he can be in the same room with both of you, then when you have time, take him out and let them slowly get used to each other. I would keep the oldest one on a leash so you can be in control. Tricksie is 2 and I want to get a new baby, so that is what I thought I would do.

| Did you introduce them in neutral territory, not your house? That's the best way to introduce two dogs for the first time. Except for the peeing, you didn't say that you had any problems with them so I'm not sure what the question is. It will take awhile for them to become friends. Don't push it. Let them work it out for themselves. Of course you'll have to keep them separated until you are absolutely certain they will be fine together. |

| It is going to take some time...usually around the 2 week mark (from my experiences) Are they BOTH neutered yet???? This will most likely be a BIG issue if they are NOT - So my advice is to get them BOTH into the Vet ASAP and have them neutered (if they aren't yet). This will help with jealousy, aggression, marking/peeing and humping. |

| Buddy was the good dog when we introduced them. And Drake, the pup, was the one that would have chewed Bud up if we didn't have them on leashes. I don't get it. Buddy is fine with other dogs even cats. And lots of you have more than one Yorkie. Have you ever heard them growl and bark so loud at each other? That's what happened when they first looked at each other. I was freaked out.

Steps that you can take now that you have them both are: #1 Make sure they BOTH are neutered. #2 Take them for a handful of short walks throughout the day. #3 Don't try to baby the new one, your 'first' was first, so he has to know that he is not being replaced, etc... #4 The new one needs love, but has to know there are rules. | |

| Yorkie is not getting along I have exactly the same problem. Two weeks ago I got a female yorkie, 2 months old and brought her home to our male yorkie(2 years old). At first he did not want to even be near her. Now is still not better. If he is playing with a toy or a treat in his mouth and the puppy approaches him, he will drop whatever he has to escaped the puppy. He avoids her all the time. She wants so badly to play with him, be he doesn't, he runs away or growls at her. He always sleeps with my daughter, well now, he rather sleeps alone than in the same room with the puppy. How long will this last? The boy seems so sad and stress. But we cannot get rid of the puppy, we also love her. He is neutered. Thanks for any help |

| Drake is obviously a dominant little guy....they will get along eventually ....I wouldn't let him dominate your other yorkie...he needs to know that YOU are Pack leader...not him....and eventually he'll stop going after your other one. It will just take time for him to get used to his new home...and where he fits in with your pack! Good luck. Definately take them for walks together...that will help to make them buddies quicker..
