| Please Please help me I was just brushing keelys teeth, And when i took the tooth brush out she bit together and i heard a cracking sound. One of her back teeth fell out and it bled a litle bit but seems fine now. Do dogs loose their teeth like children? Im very worried because i heard the cracking sound There isnt any of the tooth left in her gum (that i can see on the surface) .. Shes a 5 month old Yorkshire terrier if anybody is reading that do not know us .. Btw- She didnt whine or wince and she is playing normally (this happened like 3-5 mintes ago.. Im a first time dog/yorkie Owner and im 15 and my mom is at work.. Im Scared that her tooth wont grow back or they will keep falling out and she wont be able to eat |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | She's growing up Mom. There's another tooth up in gum...which pushed out her baby tooth. Now you have something for her baby book.

| According to : Is Your Puppy Teething? Understanding and Handling Chewing Behavior Puppies are born without teeth but baby canines (the longer teeth on each side in the front of the mouth) begin erupting at around 3 to 4 weeks of age, with incisors (the tiny teeth in the front) and premolars (larger side teeth) coming in at around 4 to 6 weeks of age. Puppies should have a total of 28 baby teeth by the age of 8 weeks. Around the age of 4 to 5 months, puppies will begin shedding their baby teeth and by the age of 7 months all permanent incisors, canines, premolars and molars should be in. Adult dogs of most breeds have 42 teeth.

Every tooth that comes out is one less you have to pay for to get pulled.

One more question. Do you think her tooth being gone is causeing her any discomfort? I babysat the other day and The child was teething so my mom brought home somthing called 'baby origel(sp?)' It numbs the gum and soothes it. Its safe for babies but would it be okay to put on her? Should I call my vet and ask her first? Last edited by Keely_momma; 10-03-2008 at 08:33 AM. | ||

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | lol well better to find out now than later! Bella had 9 teeth that WOULDNT fall out she had to have pulled at spay. and DIggy had 3. If your baby isnt spayed yet, I would recommend if you are spaying her, have you vet pulled her baby teeth then They do get put under to have them pulled so ya get away with her only going under once instead of 2 times! My vet did both my babies when they got altered. Even Bella with having 9 pulled was fine the next day eating and happy as can be.

Gracie Ruth had a few days when she wasn't feeling well. She would walk around the house with Ducky in her mouth making the most pitiful whines. I found some good teething toys at Petsmart that I could put in the frig to get cold, also she liked to chew on a damp washcloth that I put in the frig to get cold. I even found her playing with a couple of her molars after they had fallen out. But what can I expect from such a tomboy as this girl is. So don't fret, and especially don't beat yourself up. It's all normal, and you are a good momma for worrying over her. 1) Faithful friend, confidant and comfortor...Ducky
