| Oh my what a horrible experience for both of you. Little Tatum must have been just terrified and I know you were. I think I would have been able to be kind to the child like you were, but my heart would have been pounding! I agree with other posters, why don't parents watch their own children when there are animals close by. That little girl should have know not to throw a dog up in the air. Her mother has done her a huge disservice by not teaching her properly because iI imagine there are many other things she is not taking the time to train her about. That is so sad. I'm glad little Tatum is OK. Give her lots of snuggles from us. |

My Little Man! Donating Member | Poor little Tatum! She must of been so scared, poor thing. I am glad to hear she is not hurt! I really dont understand why parents dont teach their kids how to behave near animals. That would be my first thing to teach a child.

| Well, I think a child that age should indeed no better! My daughter was not even five when we got Baxter (our chi) and she knew better; and still knows better with my Bailey! I don't know what was going on but that is a shame! It is just a good thing that your baby didn't get hurt in the long run!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | OMG im glad to hear Tatum is okay. i agree with you, some parents don't know how to raise their children right. Her mom should have said something and if they already have dogs the little girl should know better to be calm with a little dog. Poor Tatum

| Brooke, you are so nice, I don't think I could have been as patient and kind to that horrible child!! I would have snapped and probably spanked that child right in front of her Mom!! I am so sorry Tatum was so scared! This is why small dogs end up fearing and nipping children. Parents do not teach their children how to behave around dogs.

| First let me say that im so glad your baby didn't get hurt. Please, dont blame the child, blame the parent. A child will do what he/she is allowed to do by the parent. So, no doubt, she has done this before, probaby with her own dogs, and was not corrected. I have 4 grandchildren that are around my yorkies all the time. The oldest being 8 and the youngest being 4. They play with my babies all the time and they know how to play with them, even the 4 yr old. They never ever pick one of my babies up. They are taught better. I just wish everyone would teach their kids how to treat any animals. Animals also will do what they are allowed to do by their owners. Just like kids will do what they are allowed to do by their parents. So please, dont blame the child, blame the parent. If that happened to me, i think i would tell the parent exactly what i thought! Jesus said..."Suffer the little children to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven". |

Im furious that the mother of that child said nothing!! That is just so disrespectful at least she could of apologized!! You handled it very well by telling the child that what she did was wrong. I however would of definitly said something to the parent. Im glad that little Tatum is ok. How scary for you and the dog.

| I can't believe the Mom didn't say anything the FIRST time she threw Tatum!! On second thought, no I am not. A little girl walked up to Max in a pet store and just popped him on the nose. He growled and snipped at her and - of course - she screamed. The mom grabbed her hand and said 'YOU need to control your dog'. Before I could say anything, my 9 year old niece said 'she hit him on his nose and noses are sensitive for dogs'. I'm glad Tatum is OK and hope no damage to her knees from that jump! I feel sorry for the little dogs in that house. No telling what they go through...
