Spoiling your Yorkie...and now

I'm currently spoiling my baby who is 4.5 months old ...She is so cute and I love her to death...but I'm wondering... is spoiling her a good thing to do or not? I'm afraid she'll get agressive when she doesn't get her way in the future.

To those who have spoiled their babies, how did your babies turn out to be and at what age? Sweet, affectionate, bratty, very attached, jealous, insecure, confident, demanding, bossy, aggressive, loyal, etc?

I know the feeling. ours is gettting a little spoiled also and he's 15 weeks old. He barks at me when i'm on the computer and last night i was putting up groceries and he was barking because i wasn't playing with him...lol

You can spoil inside rules and bounderies.
So barking for attention, put him to work doing sits and downs and stands and roll over then give him lots and lots of cuddles for working hard.

Spoiled dogs are like spoiled chidren, no one wants to be around them. You can shower yor baby with love without spoiling them. You just teach them to wait for things, Don't respond to them scratchng on your legs or barking at you.

We have friends that have a spoiled dog and when they don't do what the dog wants she will sit and bark at them. Believe me that is not a dog that you want to be around.

The most loving thing you can do for your dog is to teach them manners. You will enjoy them more, and so will your friends and family.


Don't expect too much from er now, but at least start working on manners. I would start by not picking her up when se is scratching at you. Teach her to sit and then pick her up.

^If I do not respond to her scratching and barking when she wants to be picked up and she would just learn to sit there, how would I know when she wants to be picked up? My puppy jumps, scratches, cries and barks at me when she wants to be picked up to sleep on my lap while I'm on my bed. I do not allow her to sleep on my bed, but she sometimes take naps on my lap when I'm on the laptop on my bed.

My puppy barks and cries while I'm preparing her food. She just can't wait. The problem is, she won't stop unless I put down her food on the floor.
