| When will she stop growing? Hi everybody, I need some help from people who are experianced with yorkies and their gorwth rate lol.. At 5 months old shes 6 lbs and 2 onces, buut shes already gfone through her growth spirt and her growing has slowed down considerably.. I know its not possible to really know ho0w big she will be but do any of you know handy about how big/heavy she will be? Her breeder told me that she would be about 8 lbs, she said that she is a really sturdy dog and would be perfect as a breeding dog ( she was going tp keep her for breeding but she didnt get along with the other dogs so she was sold to us on a non breeding agreement and she has to be spayed within 8 months of purchase. ) Also, when should she stop growing? Ive heard some people say around 9 months and some people day that she may not stop growing until a year or more:S ... Shes my first dog and im trying to find out as much information as possible ( my brother had a huskey as a child but i wasnt really involved with the care of her because i was too young) Thanks alot!!!!! | I think it depends on the dog... but I'd say 9 months is about right. Mia's growth slowed down around 6 months, and since then she's only filled out and she hasn't budged much for a few months and she's 10 months old.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | They usually grow in spurts & don't really stop till around 15months has been my experience with my last 3 yorkies. Hope that helps! I believe there are growth charts on here too! Kay

| I think it can really vary from dog to dog. My last dog I bought was 5 1/2 lbs. when I got her at 5 months old. Today at 14 months she is just over 6, so she has hardly gained at all, but I think that is more unusual, as my others gained more like 2 lbs. over they're 5 month weight. Martha & crew |

| Hey not to worry how big she gets, I find the bigger they are the more fun they are to play with. You don't have to worry about her getting hurt. Casey is 3.2lbs and Riley is 7.8 lbs. Both from the same mom too. They are both fun, but we have to be more gentle with Casey cuz she's just a little bitty thing. What part of Newfoundland are you from?

| Hi Keely Momma, My vet told me to double the weight of a dog at 12 weeks and that will give a good estimate of the adult weight... that really did work and gave a good estimate on my previous dog. Also if you go to Yorkiepassion.com there is a growth chart that gives you the final adult weight based on the current age and weight. Let me know what you find out. |

| LOL - I was just wondering this today too. I found a lot of information stating "If their weight was __ at __ weeks, they should grow to be this size". So basically this means "Unfortunately, if you didn't get your furbaby when they were __ weeks old, you are out of luck knowing how big they will get."
