| registration q My other pup is ckc eligible. I put off registering her cause did not know if hubby wanted to and she's his pup. We are not breeding her. Think hubby accidently threw away the papers for her today. We got her from someone who had bought her from the original breeder. I have the name of the original breeders but do not know how to get in touch with them or if they know she was resold. Is there anyway to still register her with out those papers? Can ckc look up any info? I feel so stupid.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | There's really no reason to register unless you are planning on breeding her. The only reason I registered Joey is because he was with the AKC, and I believe in the club, and what they are trying to accomplish, so my registration money was just my way to show them support. They also have a lifetime lost and found option that I found reassuring. Since the AKC has cracked down on breeders, many alternative registries have popped up and the CKC is one of them. They will register just about any dog, including mixed breeds, and this service is more so that breeders can advertise their dogs as "registered", but I don't feel that it adds any real value to the dog, because anyone can register their dog, at any time, so what's the purpose? No documentation is necessary, and they will take the breeders "word" for whether or not it's a purebred. Here's a link to registries that explains some of the difference. Registries In essence, unless you believe in the club, and want to give them financial support, there is no real purpose of registration.

| I agree with everything you said. I believe hubby wanted to because Gypsy is AKC registered. He wanted his pup (a chi in this case) to be "registered". He is over his aggravation in the matter but I know he wanted it for some reason. I explained about how with ckc you can not prove full blooded. We know that the paperwork sd she is full blooded and even then if she wasn't we would love her anyway. I think he just likes to say he has a full blooded long hair chi. Does any of this make sense? Not trying to make him sound snobby.

| The original breeder has the aplication # for the registration of the litter. You only need the birthday, and the name of the breeder to reseash the papers. Call the akc customer service #, and tell them what is going on. Also, you can research the breeder contact info. Call her or him and ask for her or his help. She migh have a coppy of the papers.
