As my little guys were running and playing I looked up in the sky and I saw 2 not just 1 but 2 big turkey hawks flying around to catch my little guys for breakfast. I couldnt believe it they were right above us!!! so I brought the little guys in!! Man what a way to ruin our fun!!! Thanks turkey hawk!!! Sorry but no yorkie breakfast for you!

| Stupid question, but do they look like a buzzard? Is it the same thing? I seen about 4 huge birds flying over while I had Caylee out one day and I took her in bc I wasn't sure what they were. Hubby said they were buzzards, but I couldn't figure out why they were flying overhead when we were outside.

| I feel your pain. I have red tailed hawks here. Do you let your dogs run free? When I first saw the hawks, we went running to the house. Now, I take her out on her leash and just keep her relatively close to me. I always have her on a leash now that's for sure. They say hawks won't bother the dogs as long as a person is right there with the dogs. I know the talons would do a terrible job even if they couldn't pick the dog up. Just be very vigilant. Hawks eat live animals -- I haven't heard them referred to as turkey hawks but they are often called chicken hawks in my corner of the world. | |

| It is a good thing that you thought fast and got your babies indoors. Hawks have been known to pounce upon unsuspecting Yorkies just feet away from their horrified owners. I have had a couple of hawk scares - I always look UP and in the tree line before I let the kids out. |

| I hate hawks! I'm glad you noticed them before they noticed your babies!

| hmm im not sure what kind of hawk it was, but i know it was a hawk, we have an empty field over on the other side and i see them over there a lot but this time that little s**t head was over me and the boys. i usually just let the boys run in the grass right in front of me (you know yorkies and running!!) my little peanut will run laps he 's it. but i guess they cant do that anymore i will have to put them on their leash's. i dont know if a hawk will try to swoop down and get them with me there but im not going to take the chance!!

| I have noticed so many hawks flying around over the last few months and it scares the bejeebers out of me. Makes me so angry and yes, they could easily pick up a little yorkie and fly off with it. I have seen some hawks with some pretty big prey in their talons before. I am always on the look out when my pups are outside....you can just never be too careful.
