| Pet Insurance I just got back from the vet and paid over $500 for x rays and an enema, office visit and of course "emergency" charge because it is Sunday. Luckily thats all that was wrong with my baby, but it costs so much! Anyone can recommend pet insurance, and is it worth it? |

| Very much worth it..... When my boxer Bailey Jo ate whole walnuts, nails, wood, carpet and anything else she could get in her mouth it would have saved us almost 3000.00 needless to say we didn't have it then but do now....there are many different plans out there that you can choose from it is almost like choosing insurance for yourself or your family you can pick your deductible and what you want it to cover and not cover. I would check with your vet to see what they take and what kind they would recommend and what for depending on your furbabies!!!!

| Be sure to check consumer reviews on plans before you buy one, too. The emergency facility I went to here hands out brochures for one that has generated a lot of complaints, and my vet hands out stuff for another with the same problems. I don't feel comfortable giving a recommendation, but I would suggest doing a lot of research first. |

| There was a thread a while ago about pet insurance... I have VPI, I personally haven't had any problems. I mostly have it in case of a large expense. I would look at many different companies, some cover breed specific ailments (VPI doesn't) but I chose VPI for emergencies. ~Like when my friend's pomeranian jumped off the couch one day and broke its leg, I think it was about $5,000 to get him back to normal! |

| I would also recommend petplan USA, website is Petplan Pet Insurance for Dogs and Cats. We discussed this on the forum a while back and came to that conclusion. They cover herederary diseases, which no other company (to my knowledge) covers. you can also choose the amount of deductable and the amount of copayment and the rates are accordingly. I've also heard they process their claims very quick and efficiently. I haven't had a chance to sign up with up, but will soon.

My husband who is from here, promises to move us back there next year when my son graduates High School. I plan on trying to stay in Hamilton County, but heard there is some decent areas in Indianapolis. Are you near there? | |
