| My Yorkies are "Breed Elitists" This is very strange to me, but I wonder if any one else has this issue. I live in a large condo building (there are lots of little dogs), and we take our boys on dog walks all around the building and public water front areas. Well, my dogs (both of them!) are constantly barking and acting like they want to attack other dogs (tiny chihuahuas, pomeranians, bulldogs, pugs, etc. This isn't a size thing.) BUT whenever we come across other Yorkies, my boys get so excited and want to play with them!!! How do they know that these other dogs are also yorkies???? They only like Yorkies!!! ~Just one example: One day we were literally pulling the dogs away from barking at our neighbor's bulldog, when my boys catch a glipse of a yorkie puppy coming our way. Their whole demeanor changes and they turn back into happy, friendly dogs!! TOO STRANGE TO ME!!! How could they possibly know who's a yorkie and who isn't???? Does anyone else have this problem???? |

| My Mother's dog only likes other Yorkies too! It is so funny to see... We went to a Yorkie Play-date and there were about 4O Yorkies there and my Mother's dog was fine... and all of a sudden somone came in with a Maltese Puppy and my Mother's dog started barking at it like crazy... He does this whenever we see a non-yorkie.... he even did not like a Min-Pin at another play group he as act.. So you are not alone....

| Mine only like Yorkie's too! We used to live right next door to the Dog Park, that was the main reason why I moved into the House. So for the past 3 yrs. I used to take my 3 Yorkie's there at least once a day, of course they acted as if they owned the place! Artie used to be very territorial and would charge all large dogs like Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Boxers and even Pitbulls if they came close to me or Abigail & Tiffany Aloha. Abigail would snap at their Faces if they tried to hump her and Tiffany just got chased as if she was a Squirrel? They never had problems with other Yorkie's either, in fact they were the only ones that they would play with. My dogs don't play with any other dogs except each other and they barely do that. Coincidently most of my Friend's & Family have Yorkie's too! I stopped taking them to the Dog Park b/c they get too muddy/dirty, besides I did'nt want them to have to keep defending themselves against other dogs attacking they should be able to go pooh in peace? |
