| Sleeping too much? How long should a 4 month old yorkie sleep throughout the day and night? Mine sleeps all night and then like 75% of the day... I cannot imagine that that is normal, but he is the first dog I've owned. Thanks! Brittany and Bentley

| I'm not sure that is right either. Sleeping through the night is a plus, but almost all day certainly is not. They should be playing vigorously and then sleep etc. etc. They are playful and energetic dogs and especially when a puppy. Might be time to tell your vet about this. Pat |

| I'm concerned with my pup's sleeping patterns too. When we first got Wall-E at 11 weeks, he would sit quiety in his bed all day and sleep all the time... we didn't know if that was normal or if he was depressed from being taken away from his mother and sibling... but now he is more active. The only thing is that I think he sleeps during the day while we are at work and is up ALL night wanting to play, but since we're sleeping he just sits quietly in his pen. I'm a little worried... Anyway, are you home all day with your pup? Or is he home alone? |

| That sounds pretty normal to me. Mine are awake at lunch and want to go out for a walk, then be fed, maybe play a little, then back to bed. A puppy will play more and stay awake more, but older doggies will just sleep. Both get on the bed and sleep all night too! I wouldn't say they are sound asleep at any time during the day, just resting.......waiting for any action!

Maybe it's just his routine?

| Sounds normal to me...if you're concerned, take them for a long walk during the day or evening or even better yet, out at the park. Mine will sleep all day long but if we're visiting friends or out and about, she stays awake all day and is so pooped by the night. |

| I think you're fine. I agree you should try to take your pup on a walk or engage him in some activity just to make sure he is getting enough exercise, but other than that- I don't think there's need for alarm. If you're really concerned though, consult your vet to make sure its not a health related issue. Good luck! |
