| For those with yorkies over a year old I have an 11 month old girl. For the past few weeks she's been a little standoffish and seemingly not as happy as she used to be to be with us - on our laps or playing or cuddling especially. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this with their yorkie as they near one year old. Is she outgrowing puppy behavior and just growing up? It makes me kind of sad because she doesn't seem to want to cuddle or be held like she used to all the time, I could hardly sit down without her on my lap. She's also not as playful as before either. Could I hear from some of you as to whether or not this has happened to your pup as she matures? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Is she spayed? if not, could she be coming into heat? That's how Roxie got about 2 months ago when she was going into heat. She was 8 months then. A lot do settle down by 1 1.2 years.

I Love My Babies Donating Member | Sandy behaved like this also. It doesn't last long. But they do settle down a bit as the get a little older.

| Gracie got that way at about that age. She had been spayed by then. I took her signals as being lonely during the day while I am at work. Ever since I got Holly, that behavior stopped and Gracie has been back to her old self.

| No, she's not going into heat - she was spayed last February. I guess I can live without her playing a lot like before or but I kinda miss the snuggles that used to be given so freely. I guess I took it for granted that she'd always be that way because I didn't know, I never had a dog. Now when she snuggles I make sure it lasts as long as possible where I'm not the one to move first. |
