| Yorkie Ears I was looking through the albums and noticed that most of the Yorkie babies ears stick straight up! My Yorkie's ears dont do that; they flop forward. LOL. Why is it that my Yorkie's ears flop over like that? Do you think they will eventually stand up like most of your puppies do? |

| My yorkie baby's ears flop over too! lol I've heard several things like taping them, shaving them, etc., but I think I'm going to hold off on doing anything for right now. Some people say they will go up by themselves! lol |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Here's a good link on how to tape ears, you don't say how old you puppy is, but sometimes this takes time, and it's important to clip the hair on the top third of the ear. Top Taping Yorkie Ears Taping Yorkshire Terrier Ears Stand Erect Yorkie Ears Puppies whose ears have been erect sometimes fall around 6 months due to teething, and taping can work at that time as well. Here's a couple of threads on flopppy ears. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ping-ears.html and http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...bout-ears.html

| When I first got Scooter, his ears were down. The vet told me to just give them a rub down any time I could to stimulate the blood flow. I did it a few times a day and his ears eventually stood up. I never taped them. Now, he loves to have his ears gently rubbed. Just be sure to not really go into the ear, just lightly rub the skin and you will see the difference in no time. Scooter loves having his ears rubbed so much that he shuts his eyes now and becomes a big lump when I do it. It is total relaxation.

| I usually start taping the puppies ears when they are 4-5 weeks.I like to use 3M bandage tape. It let the ear breath better. I leave the tape for 3 days then let them rest for one day, re tape one or both ears until it stay up. I think it is cute down too. My biggest male teddy got his ears down and look so cute. |

| My girl's ears totally flopped over until about a month ago. I didn't do anything - taping, trimming, etc...and on their own they stood up at 10 months. I'm a bad mommy - she's never been groomed - I'm too scared to leave her with someone. I am going to groom her myself soon, based off of the wonderful videos here. I worried about the ears, but they seem to have worked themselves out. I'm all about the "au natural" dog. Ha! |

| Wow, thanks for all the replies and advice! I like the rubbing idea so will give that a try and see if it helps. I am calling the vet to have her first checkup and shots since bringing her home so I'll ask him too. Thanks sooo much!! |

| Like Nancy said, get the hair off the top third of your pup's ear, both front and back, then go to that site and tape the one ear up. Leave it up a few days, take the tape up and see if it stays, and if it doesn't...tape it again. Mine didn't take but a copule of days being in tape to stay up.
