| A Maltese Person in Yorkieland... Hi Everybody, Don't hate me - I love Yorkies but I'm a Maltese person through and through. I came on here to inquire for a friend who is looking for a tiny Yorkie. I know, I know - not breed standard, health problems and all the rest of it, same as with Maltese. However, this person (my groomer) has had tiny Yorkies for many years, including one with a shunt. She's willing to take one with a shunt or other health issues and give it a good home. The reason she wants such a small one (2 lbs. or less) is that she does house calls and has to carry all her equipment with her, and she wants to take the dog with her. She says 2 lbs. is the maximum weight she can handle. She recently lost one - it was hit by a taxi that jumped the curb - and she's devastated. She desperately wants another one, and has been looking around, but the few people that have the tiny ones - even sick ones - aren't willing to sell them. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas. She would take a rescue if she could find one. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

| Two pounds is incredibly tiny, even for a Yorkie. Why does she need one that small? Sounds like she was walking the last one that got hit by the taxi so why should weight matter. I can't imagine owning a 2 pound Yorkie (my 3 1/4 pounder scares me enough) but if I did I wouldn't be walking it out on city streets. Any Yorkie under 4 pounds is very small so why go scary small.....2 pounds MAX . This thread is so unreal......maybe because it is. |

| I'm not going to say anything mean, But 2 pound max????? Why in the heck is 2 pounds the max she can handle???? She should think of leaving her pet home while she is doing house calls. Taking it into others homes that may have sick animals is NOT something a 2 pounder can handle!

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | 2 lbs max is probably going to have them some health issues. I have a 3lber and she scares me..can't imagine 2 lbs....especially to carry around. I would probably lock her up in the house and be scared to move her anywhere.

| A Maltese Person in Yorkieland Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I know exactly what you're saying and I agree with you - I'm only passing on what she tells me. I've told her the same things you're telling me. The reason she wants it that small is because she has a bad back, and she doesn't want to leave it home alone all day. |

| A Maltese Person in Yorkieland These are my final comments on the subject, as I'm sure you'll all be happy to know: Woogie Man - I KNOW 2 lbs. is incredibly tiny and as I said, she has a bad back and can't handle any more weight than that. She has had these before and knows how to take care of them. And she doesn't work 24/7, so there are times when she would want to walk the dog on the street. There is nothing "unreal" here - you people are just very suspicious. Bruizers Mommy - same as above, and she would not take it to a home where there was a sick animal. Bizymammabee - Yes, it might have some health issues, although she has had 16 Yorkies - up to five at a time - some of which have been tiny, and only one has had a shunt. The others all lived to ripe old ages. If there is one out there somewhere, wouldn't it be nice for the poor little thing to have a loving home rather than spend its life in a cage? YorkieChick1 - Very funny. jrsygal37 - see above. spr377- 1) see above, and 2) No, not just so she can say it's tiny - but BECAUSE SHE HAS A BAD BACK. cesar49 - 1) It's not that she WANTS a sick puppy, but that she would be willing to give it a good home and take care of it, and 2) ACCIDENTS HAPPEN, unfortunately, and that does not make someone irresponsible or a bad pet owner. PEOPLE get hit and killed by cars, and in NYC, especially by taxis - if a speeding taxi jumps the curb and hits it, even a Great Dane would be killed. I won't be visiting this forum again, so don't waste your energy thinking up clever replies. |

| A person comes here trying to find a 2 pounder for a "friend" and we are suspicious? Sometimes I just don't even know what to say…
