Well everyone.. summertime is here and that means BUGS! When I let Maggie out to potty earlier, a june bug flew in my apartment. Well Franklin and Maggie went CRAZY trying to catch this june bug. Who knew an insect could provide such joy and entertainment? Unfortunately (for the june bug), they caught it and ate it. Maggie crunched it in two and shared half with Franklin. It was pretty cute actually!

LOL!!! That was cute! Yes, my boys love to fight over June Bugs. The cat joins in the chase.

In the spring/early summer we get centapedes here and I recently caught Archie hutning down and (gulp) killing one. I guess he figures he's got to hunt down something, seeing that Yorkies were designed to hunt rats and we (thankfully!) don't have any of those!

I'm working on a landscaping project and Sophie is helping me dig up some sod. She has also discovered the worms. She loves them!

June bugs are a big hit with my gang as well. If an unlucky bug gets into the house, all I have to say is..."get the buggie"...and all 4 of mine go on a search and destroy mission until the "buggie" is no more.

I use to fear those nasty little brown bombers. Not any more.

LOL...Chloe loves to eat bugs. We call any bug that comes into the house, a "fly" (Chloe, get the fly!)

Could too many June Bugs be bad?? Roxy eats like 2 or 3 at a time. I'm gonna guess that she eats 2-5 a day (she eats them while she is out to potty.)

Silly girl...she loves those crunchy things!

Peanut loves June Bugs....she can keep herself occuppied for hours playing it with it and when she gets bored she will eat it....she also loves to chase rabbits....I know SAD but that is the nature of the beast....

This would be worrisome to me. Read this:

Some species of centipedes can be hazardous to humans because of their poisonous bites. Although a bite to an adult human may only be painful, to those with allergies that are similar to that of bee stings and small children are at greater risk.

I don't know what kind you have but maybe you could do an image search on Google and try to find one so you know if it is hazardous to your baby.

Then yet another site says this about the 'house' centipede:

Most house centipedes are incapable of penetrating human skin with a bite or a sting. Those that can give an effect no worse than a minor bee sting. The symptoms generally disappear within a few hours. However, the bite can cause health problems for those few who are allergic to the mild venom of its bite, which is similar to that of most normal centipedes. It is possible in some cases that a rash may develop and many minuscule bumps can form, an allergic reaction which might be comparable to a bee sting in terms of pain, or to a mosquito bite in terms of itchiness. The house centipede's venom is too weak to cause any serious harm to larger pets such as cats and dogs.

I would definitely find out what kind it is.

OMG, last night, I thought I would die. About 10 june bugs were "dancing" on the water in our pool last night. It is so hard to go for a night time swim because those bugs want to join us! Icky!

Heeeheee...I just ran across this thread and am laughing right now.

My boy LOVES June bugs! He goes absolutely nuts chasing them all around the patio. He will even stalk the accent lights in the backyard waiting for an unsuspecting bug to fly by and its lights out for them.

Every night it looks like a bug massacre on our patio. Its quite coincidental that the 3 baby Mocking Birds grew quite plump in record time! I'm sure their parents appreciate the easy meals and to return the favor always leave our patio bug-free in the morning!

i would LOVE to know why it is July and there are still JUNE bugs... i hate taking Layla out to pee because they are EVERYWHERE!
