| Yorkies and Mountain Bike ???? Ok ... so me an DH bought Mountain Bikes for his Physical Therapy .... the DR said to go swimming and Bike riding .... and I am doing it with him (I can use the exercise) ..... I was wondering how safe those Baskets for Yorkies are .... I have seen one for reasonable Price and it would be fun to take Maya with us in the mornings when we go riding ...... it has a Basket on the bottom and a metal cage on the Top so she can't jump out ..... Who has one and uses them and does your Yorkie enjoy that ????

| Hi there! We bought a bike basket when we had Jessie, she wasn't too crazy about it but seemed like she felt safer when it was on my husband's bike. Since Jessie passed and we now have two little ones we thought it would be great to get another one.(Good price on Petedge.com). Well we tried it last weekend just for a short ride around the block. Willow went with hubby and I took Jake in the new one. Though our new one has a mesh zipped top, I didn't close it all the way, nor did I have our 3.5 mnth old Jake harnessed tight enough....he was petrified and tried to leap out!!!! It was really scary. I don't think he liked it much....Willow seemed to enjoy it. Maybe Jake is just too young...but I would suggest harnessing them in real good and keeping it closed on top until your baby gets used to it....hope this helps.... |

| What I did with mine was to put the Harness on upside down so the ring is on the bottom (this was the regular H shaped harness). Then I could hook the harness to the bottom of the basket with very little extra room to move around on the tether. This prevented them jumping out and dangling over the side. I think that would traumatize them for sure.
